New-function APARs for Db2 13
New capabilities are introduced to Db2 13 through continuous delivery of APARs, in the single Db2 for z/OS® service stream. Many APARs introduce enhancements in Db2 13 immediately when you apply them, at any function level. Other new-function APARs deliver deactivated functional code to support future function levels or enable activation of a new function level.
Each row of the following table summarizes one of the following types of APARs for Db2 13:
-
A new-function APAR that enables new function immediately when its PTF is applied in a Db2 13 subsystem or data sharing member. In data sharing, the new function is available only on members with the PTF applied.
If a verifying function level is shown this type of a new-function APAR, activating that function level guarantees the PTF is applied and its new function available in Db2 13, including on all members in data sharing. However, the new function can also be used where the PTF is applied before that function level is activated.
-
An APAR that enables activating a function level, if the Db2 subsystem or all data sharing members have a sufficient code level. The several APARs that introduce new-function code to be activated by each function level are listed in the same row with the APAR that enables activating the function level. The effect of this applying the PTF for this APAR is that the higher function level can be activated if the PTF is applied in a Db2 subsystem or in all active data sharing members. That is, the new-function external changes that the function level introduces do not take effect until you activate the function level by issuing a command. You must first activate function level 500 before you can activate any higher function level. For more information, see Adopting new capabilities in Db2 13 continuous delivery
To understand the meaning of function levels that are mentioned in the table, see About function levels and new-function APARs.
Only new-function APARs that have PTFs for Db2 13 are included. That is, the following table does not include any "bug fixes" or other maintenance APARs. The APARs are ordered based on the PTF availability date from most recent to oldest.

About function levels and new-function APARs
Ver:FL 5nn means that the specified function level is the verifying function level for a new-function APAR. That is, activating this function level guarantees that the PTF is applied and its new function is available in Db2 13, including on every data sharing member. However, new function in the APAR can be used where the PTF is applied before activation of this function level.
Ver:FL tbd means that a future to-be-determined function level is expected to verify the APAR. However, new function in the APAR can be used when the PTF is applied at the effective function level.
Ver:none means that this APAR is not eligible to be verified by a Db2 function level because it is for a different product or FMID, or some other reason.
Eff:FL 100 means that new-function external changes in the APAR take immediate effect when you apply the PTF on each Db2 subsystem or data sharing member, at any Db2 13 function level. In some cases, a PTF for Db2 12 might also be available.
Eff:FL 5nn means that new-function external changes in the APAR take effect at the specified function level. In most cases, this is FL 500.

You can activate the higher function level after applying the PTF for this APAR. In a data sharing group, the PTF must be applied on every active Db2 member.
APARs that are listed in the left column of this row introduce disabled functional code for later activation and are generally transparent to your Db2 environment when you apply the PTF. Their new-function capabilities become available to use only after you issue a command to activate this or a higher function level. Exceptions are noted in the APAR closing text or ++HOLD data.
