Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All Db2 13 for z/OS Distributed Data * * Facility (DDF) users, and specifically, * * users of native REST services. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR adds EXPLAIN(ONLY) option * * support for native REST services in * * the createService API, and in the BIND * * SERVICE and REBIND PACKAGE (DSN) * * subcommands. * **************************************************************** When users create or rebind a native REST service, the EXPLAIN bind option supports the values NO and YES, but the value ONLY is unsupported. Users want a way to see access path information without being required to create the REST service and its associated package. When rebinding an existing native REST package, users want to see potential access path changes prior to committing those changes. This is not currently possible because the EXPLAIN(ONLY) bind option is unsupported.
Problem conclusion
Temporary fix
Comments
This APAR adds support of the EXPLAIN(ONLY) bind option to createService API, DSN BIND SERVICE, and DSN REBIND PACKAGE. This increases compatibility between native REST packages and other package types and allows users to generate access path information without requiring the service be created. This also allows users to generate access path information for existing REST packages during a rebind without committing to those changes. For more information about using the EXPLAIN bind option, see the Db2 for z/OS documentation: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/db2-for-zos/ 13?topic=services-explain
