The Cloud Excellence Awards for 2017 were held on 20th September with a winning place given to one of the project ETS have been working on. The evening event was held at a hotel in London and was well attended by many of the candidates. There were a wide variety of submissions in the various categories for the awards across a broad range of companies and industries. This is illustrated by the shortlist of proposals that were considered for awards in categories such as best cloud product. The category we entered was for the best cloud project. From the ETS side, Elizabeth Bowen, Graham White and Sanaz Yeganefard have been involved. They have worked side-by-side with members of the team from RBS as well as others in IBM as an integrated single team. The project is called Assist and has involved working with the IBM BlueMix cloud to create a best in class chat bot solution for the bank as announced in an early release of the project last year. This year has seen the expansion of the project with a roll out to a larger number of users covering a wider variety of questions than ever before. Elizabeth has been providing deep skills in the role of Watson Conversation Analyst to orchestrate chats using the Watson Conversation Service. Graham has been working on the architectural side developing and deploying some of the wider architecture and applications required to run the system.
