What is EMM?

Enterprise mobility management (EMM) combines user, app and content management with strong data security to simplify the way you manage your device environment. IBM MaaS360® with Watson™ EMM enables endpoint and mobile users to quickly get connected to corporate resources in less time, whether they’re using a personal device or one deployed by your organization. Initiate enrollment requests, integrate with your existing infrastructure, configure devices, distribute apps and docs, and enable greater productivity and collaboration.

Manage devices, apps and data

EMM offers all the advantages of mobile device management with expanded control over apps and expenses:

  • Mobile Device Management (MDM) for smartphones, tablets and laptops
  • Mobile App Management (MAM) featuring a unified app catalog to bolster productivity
  • Mobile Expense Management (MEM) to control roaming and data costs

Modern management

MaaS360 provides robust enterprise capabilities to manage and secure Macs (macOS), PCs (Windows laptops and desktops), and Windows Mixed Reality through the entire lifecycle from enrollment to configuration, security, software distribution, support and decommissioning:

  • Display outstanding patches and updates relevant to specific PCs and Macs
  • Provide Windows 10 P2P file sharing for patches through Delivery Optimization (DO)
  • Offer Windows 7 Patching through Windows Management Instrumentation settings
  • Distribute and install applications and payloads through the Universal Application Catalog
    • Includes .msi, .exe, .appx, .reg, .bat, .cmd, .ps1, .py, .vbs
  • Enforce policy and compliance rules, tying into Azure AD or Office 365 for conditional access

Every employee has a preferred device for work and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies exist to suit their needs. Whether a personal smartphone, tablet or laptop, BYOD supported by EMM grants anywhere, anytime access without compromising security.

Separate work from play

The MaaS360 Container App enables employees to use the same device in and out of the workplace, without compromising enterprise data security or end-user privacy in the process.

Passcode-protected and delivered with AES 256-bit encryption, the solution helps you secure your data. With the Workplace Persona policy within the MaaS360 portal, admins can apply strict authentication rules, perform actions such as selective wipe, and set up the user for success with the apps they need to be productive on the go.

AI and contextual analytics

MaaS360 is the only platform that delivers an AI approach to EMM to enable endpoints, end users, and everything in between — including apps, content and data.

With Watson™, MaaS360 Advisor delivers opportunities, risks and general information to help IT and security leaders make sense of the erratic endpoint behavior they encounter daily. Advisor sources insights from structured and unstructured data, giving administrators ample, relevant context for confident everyday decision-making.

Ask a question, get an answer. Programmed to make life easier for mobile employees and reduce strain on the help desk team, MaaS360 Assistant is now at the ready to respond to common questions across email, corporate contacts and calendar using natural language processing (NLP) capabilities.

Policy Recommendation Engine

Helps IT teams configure security policies with real-time AI templates based on industry, region and deployment size. As policies are being configured, recommendations will be dynamically displayed that clearly indicate how current inputs match up to peers.

IAM for SSO and conditional access

With Identity and Access Management from MaaS360, deliver single sign-on (SSO) to native and cloud apps, as well as conditional access to enterprise resources. IT can use security features that enforce specific conditional access rules to limit application access for out-of-policy mobile devices. These features help eliminate the use of weak passwords and enhance data security.

Application security

MaaS360 enables an app container for your private enterprise apps in addition to public apps available from third parties. You can require authentication to access the container, set up SSO for apps inside it, and configure data loss prevention controls such as preventing sharing of app data outside the container.

Mobile threat defense

AI analytics provide actionable risk insights, native malware detection keeps an eye on suspicious apps, and Wandera mobile threat defense builds risk profiles and responds to network, user, device, app and data-level threats before they strike.
