IBM’s statement on the European Commission’s Digital Services Act:

“IBM welcomes the European Commission’s proposal for a Digital Services Act. We are pleased the Commission adopted a ‘precision regulation approach’ that is focused clearly on tackling illegal content online, something IBM has long called for. We believe this proposal can build greater trust in technology and provides an opportunity for Europe to champion online responsibility globally while allowing digital businesses to continue to grow and innovate.”

IBM’s statement on the European Commission’s Digital Markets Act:

“IBM welcomes the objective of the European Commission’s Digital Markets Act to create a level playing field online and prevent firms from hoarding data which can distort competition. We support a targeted approach and clear focus on consumer online platforms which are de facto unavoidable trading partners for businesses and consumers. Gatekeepers should also be prevented from exploiting consumer data they have accumulated to control new enterprise markets.”

— Christopher Padilla, Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs, IBM
