The wheels may have started to fall off the last few weeks, but ultimately, this year’s #WinWithWatson frontrunner crossed the fantasy finish line with ease. Elizabeth O’Brien’s RB1 gifted her an historic 6TD performance on Christmas Day, and Notorious EOBs backs rolled up 117.5 points before Sunday’s slate even kicked off. The Yaters TE turned in his 10th 20+ point game, and his RB1 scored 20+ for the 5th straight time, but hunky dory performances couldn’t overcome EOB’s RB stampede. In the end, it was not an ESPN analyst, data scientist or retired pro who took home the crown; But an IBMer who leaned on Watson when she needed it most. Manager O’Brien has been taking names all season, but to be the best, you’ve got to beat the best! And bursting through those saloon doors is ESPN’s preeminent fantasy mind: Field Yates… and he’s looking for a fight (Cue the spittle and the flick of the cowboy hat). Every one of his skill players is projected for over 12 points, and worst of all for EO, he’s got a fancy newly refined weapon dangling out of that holster: A QB who just ripped off 37.82pts and has the entire league on notice. He’s also armed with the most dangerous bazooka of all: A record-setting TE who is a virtual lock for 20 points (9 times already this season). Does Manager O’Brien feel lucky? Because ESPN projects her as an 8-point underdog. Her once unstoppable QB has been stuck in mud the last 6 weeks (averaging 15.6pts) while her RB2 isn’t even projected to reach 6! Can her hobbled WR1 ride to her rescue? Will Watson once again swoop in to save the day? Or will ESPN’s Mastermind take ownership of this town? Let’s get it on!
