How do I set up Db2 Warehouse?

Can I get a developer edition or free version for Db2 Warehouse?

Yes, we encourage everyone to try out the Db2 Warehouse Developer Edition for the on-premises product. We work closely with developers and the open source community. They are a huge part of our ecosystem. Follow this link to download it.

Can I install Db2 Warehouse on a single node or laptop?

Yes. Db2 Warehouse has been designed with a variety of personas in mind, including developers, designers, analysts, data scientists and more. The simplicity of the Docker container lets users get started quickly on a Windows or Mac — and as a single node instance. Follow the link for detailed information.

How is Db2 Warehouse licensed and how can it be monitored?

You can easily manage and view the license usage within the Db2 Warehouse console. A VPC is a virtual processor core available to a Virtual Server Operating System or one VPC for each physical core of a non-partitioned physical server.

Does IBM offer a stand-alone installation of Db2 Warehouse without having to pull the image from the Docker Store?

You can download the Developer Edition here. You can also work with your IBM Client Representative or open a support ticket to request access to the stand-alone image that is staged on a Box folder.

What compatibility does Db2 Warehouse offer with on-premises databases, such as Netezza or Oracle?

Db2 Warehouse has built-in IBM PureData® System for Analytics (Netezza®) compatibility, which makes migrating Netezza appliance workloads fairly seamless. IBM also provides a tool to check the overall compatibility readiness. IBM offers a best-in-line Migration Center of Excellence that can assist with your needs and timeline.

In addition, Db2 Warehouse can be provisioned with Oracle compatibility, which allows applications written for an Oracle database to run on Db2 without needing to be rewritten.
