The Gala Dinner – Available to non competitors

Another option which was raised by some of you in your feedback was the option of being able to buy tables at the Regatta Gala Dinner on the Monday evening, even if you company was not taking part in the racing.

We have decided that this option will be made available at a cost of £2,000 = VAT for a table of 10. There will only be 6 such tables available so that we do not detract from the main purpose of the event which is, of course, competing for the Challenge Trophy!

How to find Port Solent

From  the West and London via the M3. Leave the M27 at Junction 12. Take the first exit off the Cosham roundabout, turning left by the Marriott Hotel. Travel down this road for about half a mile through two sets of traffic lights and immediately after you pass under the motorway bridge, turn left at the traffic lights into Port Solent Marina.

From the East. Travel down the A3 on to the A3M. As this joins the A27 continue heading in a westbound direction. When you see the signs for Cosham and Hilsea turn off the A27 at the Hilsea roundabout. From here follow the signs for Port Solent and Porchester. This will take you past the large IBM building up to the Cosham roundabout with the Marriott Hotel on the corner. Turn off at the A27 towards Porchester past the Marriott Hotel and travel down this road for about half a mile. Go through two sets of traffic lights and immediately after you pass under the motorway bridge, turn left at the traffic lights into Port Solent Marina.

Parking available at the The Port House, Marina Keep, Portsmouth PO6 4TH. Wildwood is a short walk from the car park.

What to bring

General:  If you want to continue partying onboard after the marquee closes on Sunday evening, you will need to bring supplies along with you. The marinas at both Port Solent and Cowes Yacht haven are in residential areas. Please spare a thought for the residents whilst partying.

Sailing: Sunny weather has been ordered for the event, so we suggest that you bring the following:
Sun hat
Sun lotion/Sun block
Sun glasses
Shorts and T-shirts
Deck shoes or trainers
Gloves
Please remember that, even if the weather is hot on land, the temperature is always lower on the water, so it is always best to bring a sweater and jogging bottoms or cotton trousers.
If the weather should prove to be unkind, then we suggest that you bring the following:
Sweaters
Jogging bottoms/trousers
Thick socks
If the weather is colder please bring more clothes, it's better to have more clothes to take off than not enough to put on!!

Please note: Dress code at the Royal Ocean Racing Club for the Champagne reception and Gala Dinner is black tie for gentlemen and cocktail/evening dress for ladies.

Sleeping on board

Sunfast 40's can sleep a maximum of 6 people (including the skipper), that is 6 crew members plus the skipper and mate.

Please consider that the skipper and the mate are always entitled to have their own shared cabin.

Bedding is NOT provided on the yachts, so you will need to bring your own sleeping bag, pillows and towels.

Showers are available at Port Solent and a code number is available from Sunsail reception to gain access to these facilities.

Should you choose not to sleep onboard, you may like to contact a nearby hotel.

Hotel accommodation is limited, especially at Cowes. So, if you are going to use hotels on the island, you will need to book as soon as possible.
