What is HDS 2.0?

Hébergeur de Données de Santé (HDS) 2.0 is the French certification required for hosting personal health information (PHI) under the Public Health Code (Article L.1111-8). Managed by the Agence du Numérique en Santé (ANS), it defines strict security, confidentiality, and data sovereignty requirements for any provider handling health data in France.

HDS 2.0 strengthens the original framework with enhanced security controls, sovereignty rules, and contractual obligations that ensure healthcare data remains private, compliant, and trusted. Certification is mandatory for service providers hosting PHI and is verified through independent audits.
