Optimizing Content Platform and Document Capture Systems with Distillr

Organizational ECM and BPM departments are increasingly tasked with managing high volumes of content and supporting mission-critical business processes. Given the importance of these systems in operations and the interconnected nature of unstructured data in business processes with document capture systems, meeting service level agreements is critical. In order to avoid a troubleshooting fire drill, it’s necessary to identify problematic system areas before they affect end users.

To address the needs of many organizations trying to get a handle on system monitoring and optimization, we at Perficient have developed Distillr, a key enabler for content and workflow platform monitoring, where critical information spanning your complete environment is located in one place and easy to understand and analyze.

Based on open source Big Data technology and best-of-breed ECM and BPM industry expertise, Distillr delivers a streamlined set of metrics with a minimal consulting services engagement compared to other tools. Using Distillr you can rapidly identify and correct issues before they happen, direct your course for system optimization, and chart your progress.

Distillr provides the following capabilities:

  • Analytics for ECM/BPM/Capture Systems: Lightning fast software provides split-second, real-time analytics around system usage and technical data
  • Built on Big Data: Capture data from across the environment, gain insights everywhere
  • No Programming Required: Point and click interface lets anyone create their own Visualizations and Dashboards
  • Drill Down to What Matters: All data can be quickly explored and dissected down to individual data points

A Utah-based financial services company wanted to improve its ability to record and understand the performance and usage of its IBM ECM systems. The records department had difficulty monitoring usage statistics and investigating the causes of performance issues. Perficient installed and implemented two proprietary ECM optimization products: Report Data eXchange – a utility that processes data generated by the IBM ECM event log and builds detailed data tables – and Distillr, a data visualization tool that monitors statistics from user-configured data sources. Distillr displays this data via dashboards including graphs, charts, and other customizable reports.

With Distillr, this company can now capture trends in system performance and quickly find and address performance issues in near-real time.

According to the Imaging System Administrator, “Distillr is a great enhancement to our content management system. The solution allows us to quickly and comprehensively analyze massive data sets generated by the system, proactively identify potential issues, and quickly uncover information about a situation.”
