Report tab in IBM Storage Virtualize
IBM Storage Modeller provides reporting that includes a summary of the configuration and all the physical, effective, and usable capacity numbers as well as I/O group, drive type, pool, array and enclosure numbers. The contents of the Report page are updated dynamically as you make changes to the configuration.
The Report tab includes selectable spreadsheets that summarize details of the system’s configuration, errors and warnings, and major components. This tab is one of a set of four tabs:

You can click any of the following links to learn about the other tabs in this view:
System-specific reports are one of three general types of reports that Storage Modeller provides. For details, see “Three sets of reports in the Projects / project_name / Products list”.
The following reports are displayed in the Reports tab. The data is presented using SpreadJS:
Summary
The Summary Report spreadsheet shows the capacity, pool, I/O groups, drive, array and enclosure information. Select Summary and review the report.
Configuration
The configuration summary report, including System, Adapters, and Capacity (both pools and array groups).
Details
The Details spreadsheet gives more information on physical, usable, and effective capacity, the number of arrays and drives, and drive protection. You can use a mouse to highlight the information within the Details report page, then cut and paste that information into a spreadsheet program (such as Excel).
The different highlight colors (pink and green) indicate different drive types and help with visual identification and clarification.
Safeguarded Copy
A list of Safeguarded Copy configurations for a project.
Protection
Contains information about both the Rebuild Areas for Distributed RAID and the spare drives for traditional RAID.
Parts List
The Parts List spreadsheet displays a list of the main components needed to order equipment. You see Quantity, Type/Model, Feature, and a summary description. A link to the IBM e-config tool is included. This link reminds you that e-config is the source for complete (extremely detailed), formal Order Lists. To generate official e-config reports complete the steps that are described in “Getting IBM e-config reports for a Storage system”.
Operating Environment
The Operating Environment spreadsheet contains the following fields:
 – Power Requirement: Typical/Median and Maximum power rating
 – Cooling Requirement
 – Rack Space Requirement
The Typical/Median value is calculated based on the configured model and the features it contains. That sum is an accumulation of the power consumption of all control and expansion enclosures.
Their calculation differs depending on whether it is for a control enclosure or expansion enclosure.
 – Control enclosures are calculated based on their system memory, adapters, and the exact type and number of drives.
 – Expansion enclosures are calculated based only on the Drive Technology, assuming fully-populated enclosures.
(For expansion enclosures with multiple Drive Technologies, the highest value is used.)
The source for the Typical/Median values is derived from measured and extrapolated data when running IBM performance benchmarks at nominal ambient temperature and altitude. They are typically measured with a random 70%/30% (read/write) workload at 256 KiB transfer size.
The Cooling Requirement is calculated based on the Typical/Median power consumption.
Errors and Warnings
The Errors and Warnings spreadsheet notes all the errors and warnings that occur and shows conflicts.
To open the Report view, for a new or existing project, select Report from the open project’s storage system’s main tab, Figure 354.

When you click the Report tab, the Summary spreadsheet is shown by default. Click any of the other Report spreadsheets to display the corresponding page. Notice the arrows located at the far left of the tool bar. Clicking the arrows left or right allows you to scroll through more report options that might not be visible.
