how-to-prepare

How to prepare

To prepare for your TechXchange Dev Day experience, there are a few tools that are key to developing AI applications and agents.

Python

A high-level, general-purpose programming language. Most college students regardless of their major know Python. A great resource to learn Python is Kaggle’s Learn Python online class. It is easy to learn, especially if you have written any Excel macros or have any coding experience.

Visual Studio (VS) Code

An integrated development environment (IDE) developed by Microsoft. This is the place to change and run code. Microsoft has tons of available training for VS Code. It is free to download and easy to follow.

Github

A developer platform that allows developers to create, store, manage and share code. You do not need to be an expert, but being able to search different repos and clone them locally to your VS Code accelerates everything you will want to do. Learn more here.

Coursera

One of many courses to learn the basics of generative AI. It is free to sign up, but you have a limited time to complete the course before you have to pay.

AI prompt tools

Tools like meta.ai, groq.com, watsonx.ai, and chatgpt are all worth trying. The value of each is when you hit an error. After you paste the text in, the tool will explain the the error and provide recommendations to fix the code.
