Define the hardware
The hardware must be defined before a workload performance prediction can be performed. Use the following steps if the hardware has not been defined. If the hardware is already defined, refer to section “Define the workload”.
1. Log in to Storage Modeller and select New Project. Type in the project name and description, then select Submit.
2. Select Add Product > IBM Storage Virtualize > System 5300. Type in the Storage Device Name, select a Site assignment, then select Submit. The device System tab is displayed.
3. This example defines a FS5300 v8.5.2 product. Define the I/O groups and System Memory I/O groups.
4. Select the Adapters view to define the adapters. See Figure 373. (For details on defining the adapters, see “Defining adapters”.)

5. Select the Capacity view to define the capacity. (For details on defining the capacity, see “Defining capacity”.)
a. Select Add Pool. For this example, a Regular pool is defined with the default values. Then select Submit.

b. Select Add Array. In this example, one array is defined, as shown in Figure 375.
