Using tables in z/OSMF
This section describes how to use standard tables and tree tables in z/OSMF. Except where noted, you can work with standard tables and tree tables in the same way and obtain similar results.
- z/OSMF table layout
Details about a collection of items are often presented in either a standard table or tree table (contains nested rows). In both types of tables, each row represents an item and each column represents various properties of the item. - About tree tables
A tree table combines a tree or hierarchical structure with a table so that you can expand and collapse nodes and display multiple columns of data for each node in the tree. - Selecting items in tables
To take action against an item in a table, select the item. You can select items in single-select and multi-select tables. - Taking actions in tables
To take actions in a table, you can use either the Actions menu or context menu. - Filtering tables
To display a subset of the items in a table, define filter rules that show only the items in which you are interested. Filtering does not refresh the table; therefore, you are filtering only the items currently listed in the table. - Searching tables
To locate items of interest, use the search box displayed in the table toolbar. If a search box is not provided, you cannot search the table. Searching a table highlights the content that matches the search string. The search does not reduce the number of items displayed in the table. - Sorting tables
To sort a table based on the values in one or more columns, click the column header for the columns you want to sort. If a sort is defined for a column, the ascending (▴) or descending (▾) sort icon is shown in the column header. Otherwise, no sort indicator is provided. - Configuring columns
To select the columns to display in the table, to specify the order of those columns, and to designate which columns should be fixed in position when the table is scrolled horizontally, use the Configure Columns action. You can also use this action to display columns hidden by default (if any). - Exporting table data
To export the data in a table to a comma separated values (CSV) file on your local workstation, use the Export Table Data action. - Printing table data
To print the data in a table, use the Print Table Data action. - Modifying the data in a table cell
Some tables in z/OSMF have cells in which you can directly enter or modify information. These cells are called editable table cells, and they have a border around them so that you can easily identify them. To edit the data in one of these cells, you can use a mouse or a keyboard. - Copying items to the clipboard
Some tables in z/OSMF provide a Copy to Clipboard or a Cut to Clipboard action that you can use to copy an item to the clipboard. - Pasting items from the clipboard
Some tables in z/OSMF provide a Paste, Paste Before, or Paste After action that you can use to insert the items that are stored on the clipboard into a table. You can only copy and paste or cut and paste within a z/OSMF task tab. - Deleting or removing items from tables
Some tables in z/OSMF provide a Delete or a Remove action that you can use to permanently remove an item from a table. - Expanding and collapsing nodes
In the tree view of a tree table, to show or hide the child nodes, use the Expand and Collapse actions. - Switching between table views
If a tree table has a non-tree view, you can use the Switch to Tree View and Switch to Non-Tree View actions to switch between the tree and non-tree view.
