Copying items to the clipboard

Some tables in z/OSMF provide a Copy to Clipboard or a Cut to Clipboard action that you can use to copy an item to the clipboard.

Procedure

  1. In the table, select the items to be copied to the clipboard. If you are working with a multi-select table, you can select multiple items. Otherwise, select only one item.
  2. Complete one of the following steps:
    • To copy the item to the clipboard and keep a copy in the table, select Copy to Clipboard from the Actions menu or context menu. If the action is not listed, you cannot copy items to the clipboard.
    • To copy the item to the clipboard and delete it from the table, select Cut to Clipboard from the Actions menu or context menu. If the action is not listed, you cannot cut items to the clipboard.

Results

The selected items are copied to the clipboard. If you invoked the Cut to Clipboard action, the items are also removed from the table. Any data previously cut or copied to the clipboard is overwritten. The data remains on the clipboard until you copy or cut other data. When you close the task tab, z/OSMF empties the clipboard.

You can use the Paste action to insert the items into the table or into another table. You can copy and paste and cut and paste only within a z/OSMF task tab.

If the Actions menu or context menu lists a Copy... action, this is different from the Copy to Clipboard action. When you select the Copy... action, another page or window opens. When you click OK on that page or window, z/OSMF automatically copies and pastes the selected item into the table.
