New automation capabilities from the IBM Cloud Pak® for Automation.

The general job never seems to change for line-of-business managers: Provide exceptional customer and employee experiences, ensure consistency in operational performance, quickly pivot to address changing conditions, and identify opportunities to increase profitability. All while reducing costs.

Fortunately, the tools that can help you do change—sometimes for the better. In the better column are three new automation capabilities that can help business managers do the following three things:

1. See how your processes are working in real time

Wouldn’t it be great if you could start your day knowing exactly how your business is operating? To understand how you’re progressing against key performance indicators at any given moment? To identify what’s working well or not?

The latest release of the IBM Cloud Pak® for Automation can help you do just that. Business Automation Insights (BAI), included in the Cloud Pak and in our standalone IBM Business Automation Workflow offering, captures operational events, aggregates them into business-relevant KPIs, and presents them in meaningful, easy-to-create dashboards that provide a near real-time view of your business operations.

For instance, suppose you’re concerned that your employee hiring process is taking too long. With the BAI capability, you can view open positions by city, employee type, etc., and then dive into the processes behind hiring to identify which tasks are taking the longest and why. As you dive into the data, you can even create a new KPI on the fly—such as number of new hires per day—and view the results instantly.

This latest release of the Cloud Pak for Automation also provides the ability to track events from third-party applications, making it easier to get a 360-degree view of your business operations.

2. Reprioritize work at the flip of a switch

Maybe you’re a department manager in an insurance company. Your team is responsible for all the steps in the adjustment process—reviewing and processing claims, negotiating settlements, and ensuring that payments are made. As the manager, how do you choose the right person to assign to each job?

The Intelligent Task Prioritization feature, new in Business Automation Workflow and part of the Cloud Pak for Automation, can help. Using machine learning to analyze work history, Workflow learns from past performance to automatically prioritize tasks in a way that results in the best overall performance for your team.

3. Make more personalized decisions faster

Imagine being able to automate changing business decisions quickly without relying on IT. Business users can also now use artificial intelligence (AI) to change transactional decision making, such as at the point of purchase or during client interactions on a website.

IBM Automation Decision Services (ADS) is another new capability of the IBM Cloud Pak for Automation. ADS helps organizations capture and automate repeatable decisions with low-code decision modeling and integration of insights from machine learning models. These models can accurately classify translations or predict future events. As a result, business decisions can be made with more precise personalization and improved top-line results, with reduced risk and fraud.

Modernizing child support enforcement with IBM and AWS

7 min read - With 68% of child support enforcement (CSE) systems aging, most state agencies are currently modernizing them or preparing to modernize.
