A guiding concept for the DS8000 Storage Family is to protect against system failures by providing redundancy. For this reason, the architecture is based off of pairs. There are redundant core processors, RAID arrays, and so on that build in sets of evenly divided numbers/options. Likewise, the logical part of the system is paired. For example, in a pool pair, the first processor is assigned to one pool and the second processor is assigned to the other pool in the pair. Thus, redundancy continues into the logic of the system.
The Capacity tab offers the Physical Layout and Logical Layout sub-tabs where you set modeling features that are related to capacity. Table 16 on page 246 summarizes what you can do in each tab:

Figure 203 on page 247 shows the Capacity page for a single-frame DS8950F 9.1 system. By default, the Physical Layout tab is displayed first. (Later, we will review the related Logical Layout tab.) Call-out messages in Figure 203 describe the three primary user activities in the Capacity tab.
