Known problems
Install the 32-bit version of the Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server on the Datacap system as documented in this link.
Datacap Server manager settings and Datacap services need to be reconfigured as explained in this link.
Upgrading older Db2, Oracle, or SQL databases for Datacap applications in order to be compatible with new versions of Datacap as explained in this link.
Datacap Web Client Application Pool users are required to use a service principal name (SPN) as explained in this link.
Support for multi-functional printer or MFP scanner in Datacap Navigator has certain limitations as explained in this link.
Slowness on Datacap Web and Datacap Navigator while executing validation rules can be addressed by enabling eRRO as explained in this link.
The CreateDocuments() cannot be run more than once on an existing document structure as explained in this link.
The 'Limit access to users and groups' setting is not available for IBM Datacap Navigator desktops as explained in this link.
IBM Datacap Rulerunner Server Services has disabled the Multithreaded setting in the registry since it is not a supported option as explained in this link.
During batch processing when an action is aborted or when the RRProcessor.exe encounters an exception error, restart the Rulerunner services after the task execution.
The PDFFREDocumentToImage action creates TIFF files when configured to create PNG files with PNG compression.
The action NormalizeCCOcan fail to normalize the CCO, when the CCO file name does not exactly match the associated image file name.
In Datacap Navigator if the Edit Job or the Edit Batch button or the Job Monitor privileges options is missing or grayed out, then review the suggestions in this link.
Addressing Oracle 19c "Cannot allocate memory" error, requires the download of the Oracle Instant Client package as explained in this link.
Restriction
The OCR/PL recognition engine is limited to only one rulerunner thread. Do not configure multiple rulerunner threads to process tasks that use the OCR/PL actions.
Running multiple rulerunner threads on the same Rulerunner server calling IBMCMExtended actions is not supported as explained in this link.
Datacap does not support calling any Datacap actions from a custom action as explained in this link.
The DocumentAnalytics.ExtractText action no longer has support for the creation of Custom Extractors since as of June 30, 2022, the WKS Advanced Rule Editior has reached its end of support (EOS), and no replacement Designer Tool is currently available as explained in this link.
Datacap Navigator panel setting, if any child (cell) of a table is unchangeable (set to read-only), the entire table will be become unchangeable as explained in this link.
Microsoft has discontinued support for Basic Authentication for cloud users, which affects the use of both the ex_login actions. Additionally, support for Exchange Web Services (EWS) has been deprecated which affects the use of ex_login_0365_OAuth actions. To ensure continued functionality, it is recommended to use the ex_login_O365_OAuth_graph action.
Enhancements
Action library enhancements
The RecognitionOCRA actions exposes the Recognition Mode setting to improve both the recognition accuracy and recognition quality on some documents.
The TiffMultipageMerge action uses JPEG as the default compression, instead of LZW, for color images when building a multipage TIFF image.
The Watsonx.ai actions library exposes a new action to allow a user to configure a generic Proxy for use with Watsonx.ai as explained in this link.
The SplitMultipageTiff action creates separate images for each page in a multipage TIFF for some files that fail to follow the TIFF specifications.
The MVScan.Scan action creates the PageName variable when ingesting files to mirror the VScan action library Scan action operation.
The Datacap global action library collection has been enhanced to add the following new Action Libraries:

Datacap services enhancements
To help troubleshoot situations where a task’s XML file is unexpectedly overwritten by a previous task’s XML file during processing by the RuleRunner services, an enhanced and configurable Rulerunner registry setting is now available as explained in this link.
During batch processing when an action is aborted or when the RRProcessor.exe encounters an exception error thrown by the calling action, the Rulerunner service restarts the RRProcessor.exe. as explained in this link.
Datacap clients enhancements
Improve the browser security with Content Security Policy as explained in this link.
Security Vulnerabilities addressed
- CVE-2023-26966: The vulnerability affects libtiff version 4.5.0.
- CVE-2015-6099: A security vulnerability in Microsoft's .NET Framework related to cross-site scripting (XSS).
- CVE-2024-39730: The application is missing X-Frame-Options header in the HTTP response related to Clickjacking.
- The "HTTP Security Header Not Detected" when a web server is missing critical security headers in its responses.
- Session Fixation that permits an attacker to hijack a valid user session.
- Bypassed client-side validation to ensure that the input provided by a user meets certain requirements before it is sent to the server.
- A security vulnerability arises when a session cookie is set without the Secure or HttpOnly attributes.
IBM Datacap Navigator
Upgrade of DynamsoftService v1.8.5100 requirement
A pre-installation of the new Dynamsoft Service is required on the Datacap Navigator scan workstations for those Datacap Navigator scan users who may not have administrative rights to download and install the new service. If you have Dynamsoft Service v1.8.5100 installed, you will not be prompted to download a new version. To install the latest version 1.8.5100, you must first uninstall the v1.8.2017 or any other older version then install v1.8.5100.
Support for IBM Content Navigator
This Datacap Navigator interim fix adds support for improving browser security with Content Security Policy (CSP) as implemented in IBM Content Navigator (ICN) release 3.0.15 and newer by following this guideline document.
Starting with ICN 3.0.13, the following steps are required to load the Datacap Navigator plug-in.
Additionally, review the IBM Datacap Software Product Compatibility Reports on the supported IBM Datacap 9.1.9 Detailed System Requirements.
Scanning documents with Datacap Navigator
A single scan workstation cannot have major different versions of Dynamsoft Service running. If it is required to access multiple Datacap Navigator URLs that require different versions of Dynamsoft Service, then you must use separate scan workstations with different versions.
Resolving the Content Security Policy message is referenced in this link.
If you have upgraded your scan workstation to Dynamsoft Service Custom version 1.8.5100 and then try to use it with an older version of Datacap Navigator, you will be prompted to download and install the older version of DynamsoftServiceSetup.

IBM® Datacap Version 9.1.9, interim fix 007 Installation
Prerequisites

Installation instructions
Download the 919 iFix 007 package from Fix Central, extract it, and perform both of the following steps in this order.
- Run Update.exe to install iFix 007.
- Extract UpdateOCR.zip and then run UpdateOCR.exe to install the iFix 007 OCR Update.

Feature enhancements for IBM® Datacap 9.1.9, interim fix 003
- Enhanced SQL lookup option from the panel to support the use of multiple workflows.
In cases where an application has multiple workflows, in Verify task, the lookup button can be configured to return data for a specific workflow. The actual SQL implementation can be contained in the ruleset to be run when the lookup button is clicked.
- Enhanced IBM Content Manager versioning in action IBMCM_SetSearchAndDownloadCriteria based on ITEMID.
- Enhanced ex_SetProxy() API to work in combination with ex_login_O365_oAuth_Graph() when Proxy Settings are enabled in IE LAN settings.
