General Page
Core Directories
- Datacap installation directory (e.g., C:\Datacap)
- Batches folder – if stored outside the Datacap directory
- Application folders – if stored outside the Datacap directory
- Import folder – used for Vscan, Email, or other ingestion methods
- Scan folder – where physical scanned documents are temporarily stored
- Export folder – where processed documents are saved and then uploaded to repository
System and Temporary Folders
- C:\Users\<current user>\AppData\Local\Temp
- C:\Windows\Temp
- C:\Users\ {USER}\AppData\Roaming\IBM (if scanning images with a physical scanner)
Custom Folders
- Any additional folders accessed due to customizations in your Taskmaster application.
Process Exclusions
Exclude the following Datacap executables from anti-virus scanning:
- RRprocessor.exe
- Rulerunner.exe
- DCOProcessor.exe
- eRRO.exe
- FastDoc.exe
- DcDesktop.exe
- DStudio.exe
- wTMService.exe
- tms.exe
NOTE: Running anti-virus software on a Datacap system can interfere with Datacap operations in several ways:
- File Locking During Batch Processing: Anti-virus scans may lock files while Datacap is reading or writing them, leading to failed operations or corrupted data.
- Performance Degradation: Real-time scanning of working directories—such as batch folders, fingerprint libraries, and temp files—can significantly slow down document ingestion, rule execution, and workflow transitions.
- False Positives and Quarantines: Datacap uses scripts, custom actions, and executable components that may be flagged as suspicious. This can result in critical files being quarantined or deleted, causing application components to fail or deployments to break.
- Service Disruption: Services like Taskmaster, Rulerunner, and WTM require uninterrupted access to Datacap files and databases. Anti-virus interference can cause service crashes, interrupt batch processing, and prevent proper logging and auditing.
For these reasons, it’s essential that anti-virus exclusions are properly configured to ensure Datacap runs reliably and efficiently.
Tips:
✅ Use Microsoft Process Monitor (Procmon) to capture activity during Datacap operations. Then, filter the events to identify Datacap-related processes and file paths associated with your specific antivirus software, in order to detect potential performance impacts.
✅Coordinate with your IT and security teams before applying these exclusions to ensure alignment with organizational policies and security standards.
