Working with views
The CICS Explorer® displays resource information in views. You can decide on the size and position of the views, and what information to show in them. These tasks explain how to work with the views to meet your operational requirements.
- Views overview
Each perspective contains one or more views. A view is a visual component in the workbench that provides a way to navigate the information in your workbench. Related views are grouped into tab groups, and each tab group is contained in a pane in the workbench window. - Opening views
When you first open CICS Explorer, the default workbench perspective, which contains the default view set, is displayed. You can add other views to the workbench to display additional information about your CICSplex. - Moving views and tab groups
You can change the position of all views in the workbench except for the CICSplex Explorer view. You can move views in their current tab group, or into a different tab group. - Resizing tab groups and views
When you resize a tab group, the views in the tab group are automatically resized as well. - Moving columns in a view
You can change the size of a column, reposition a column, or set columns to equal widths in a view. - Changing columns in a view
When you open a view to display a CICS® resource, a subset of the resource attributes is displayed. You can add and remove resource attributes to display as columns in the view, and change the order of those columns. - Filtering resources in a view
When you open a resource view, it might show many resources. You can apply a filter to show resources with similar resource attributes, or to locate a single resource. You can filter by one or more resource attributes that are displayed as columns in the view. - Sorting resources in a view
When you open a resource view, the resources are sorted by a resource attribute (a column in the view). With CICS TS Version 4.2 and later, you can sort the resources by any column in the view, and change the sort order. - Resetting a view to its configuration
You can reset a view to the columns, filtering and sorting that are saved in the view configuration preferences. Any changes you made to the columns, filtering and sorting in the open view are cancelled. - Saving a view's settings to its configuration
The Save settings to View Configuration option in the view menu saves the changes that you made to a view back to the view's configuration. - Customizing the Operations or Definitions menu
You can customize the Operations or Definitions menu on the main menu of the workbench to show only the options for the CICS resource table views that you require. - Configuring a CICS resource table view
You can configure most table views that display a CICS resource. You can specify which columns are displayed, and the order of those columns. You can filter the content of the view by one or more resource attributes, and sort the content by one or more resource attributes. - Changing specific resource views
For the Resource Group Definitions view, Group List Definitions view, and a small number of older-style views, you can change the views in the same way as in CICS Explorer Version 5.2.
