Telum II powering IBM LinuxONE 5

The IBM Telum II Processor features a built-in low-latency data processing unit (DPU) for accelerated I/O, improved efficiency and the next generation of on-chip AI acceleration. With 32 cores across 4 interconnected clusters and 10 Level-2 caches1, it enhances cache coherency and performance. Its virtual L3 and L4 caches have grown by 40%2, reaching 360 MB and 2.8 GB, driving faster data processing and scalability.

Telum powering IBM LinuxONE 4

The IBM Telum processor is a 7-nm chip built for AI-driven insights in high-volume transactional workloads. It features 8 cores clocked over 5GHz, a 32MB private L2 cache and a 256MB virtual L3 with 2GB L4 cache. With 1.5x more cache per core than its predecessor, Telum enhances performance, ensuring fast response times for complex transactions with real-time AI inference.

Telum enables on-chip AI for real-time fraud detection and risk analytics. Telum II enhances AI on IBM LinuxONE with 4x compute power, a high-speed DPU and deep learning, enabling more complex models and faster processing.3

Integrated security

Both processors offer advanced security, end-to-end encryption and confidential computing. Telum II introduces further enhanced quantum-safe cryptography and hardware-based tamper detection, further securing sensitive workloads.4

Energy efficiency

Telum is designed for sustainability, reducing power consumption while maintaining performance. Telum II improves efficiency further with up to 15% core power reduction, optimizing operations without compromising speed.5

Resilience and high availability

Designed for 99.999999% uptime, Telum ensures continuous operation with self-healing and automatic failover. Telum II enhances system redundancy, minimizing downtime for mission-critical environments.

High performance

Telum provides 8 cores with 16 threads per core for parallel processing at up to 5.5 GHz. Telum II expands cache, introduces a DPU for accelerated I/O and further reduces latency for data-intensive applications.6

Hybrid and multicloud optimization

Telum is cloud-native, supporting Kubernetes, Red Hat® OpenShift® and major cloud providers. Telum II expands integration capabilities and optimizes workload portability across hybrid and multicloud environments.7
