Overview

In troubleshooting for OMEGAMON® for Storage on z/OS®, you start with a symptom, or set of symptoms, and trace them back to their cause. Troubleshooting is not the same as problem solving. However, during the process of troubleshooting you might obtain sufficient information to enable you to solve a problem. In some cases, you cannot solve a problem after determining its cause. For example, a performance problem might be caused by a limitation of your hardware. However, in the following situations, troubleshooting can lead to problem solving:

  • End-user errors
  • Application programming errors
  • System programming errors, such as in resource definitions
