from your school, if required

Here’s how you can make
those six-seconds count

Highlight your accomplishments

Include links to your work

Include personal websites, GitHub, design portfolio and social media links such as LinkedIn.

Try to quantify your experience

How big was the project? How long did it last, what were the results? Be specific about how you measure success from the achievement.

Put the most important
information at the top

If a recruiter is scanning quickly, the first few bullet points in each section should contain the most relevant information.

Apply

Once you find a role that interests you, apply online. If you’re uncertain which type of job or internship best fits your skills and capabilities, chat with Watson Candidate Assistant.

Online assessments

While your application is being screened, all candidates will be required to take two Learning Agility assessments (Cognitive and Personality).

A third assessment may be required based on the role (e.g. Developer roles will require a Coding assessment).

Cognitive Ability Assessment – helps us to understand how you learn, make decisions, and solve problems. You’ll encounter a series of 5 interactive games presenting you with text, numbers and shapes that you’ll need to read and manipulate to solve problems.

Personality Assessment – helps us understand your motivation and interests. All content is text based and you’ll be presented with a series of statements where you must decide which one best describes you.

Video Assessment – helps us get to know you through a series of interview questions where your response is captured through a webcam and microphone.

Interview

You’ll participate in a series of interviews that will either be in person (on campus, in an IBM office, large-scale interview event) or virtual. The format of the interviews (behavioral, case study, or technical) will depend on the role you are interviewing for.

Decision

You’ll be notified shortly after your Final Interview if you’ve been selected for the IBM job or internship.
