  1. CICS Transaction Server for z/OS APAR PH07632 needs to be applied in order for CICS Explorer 5.5.0.3 to take advantage of the new CICS system rules.  APAR PH19076 needs to be applied in order for quick filtering when aggregated to work.  APAR PH14856 needs to be applied in order to take advantage of the ability to add the @CICSProgram annotation to a method in a Spring Boot application.
  2. To ensure compatibility with CICS Explorer 5.5, CICS Configuration Manager plug-in 5.4.0.6, CICS Deployment Assistant plug-in 5.3.0.7 CICS Performance Analyzer plug-in 5.4.0.4 or later must be installed.
  3. To ensure toleration of CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 5.6, CICS Deployment Assistant plug-in 5.3.0.8, CICS Interdependency Analyzer plug-in 5.5.0.4, CICS Performance Analyzer plug-in 5.4.0.6 or later must be installed. 
  4. CICS Transaction Server for z/OS APAR PH29187 needs to be applied in order for CICS Explorer 5.5.0.15 to take advantage of the changes that have been made on policy editor to provide the Container Storage task rule.
  5. CICS Transaction Server for z/OS APAR PH34348 needs to be applied in order for CICS Explorer 5.5.0.17 to take advantage of a new system rule for a threshold on the transaction take dump.
  6. In order for CICS Explorer to display the DUMPCODE resources, the CICSPlex SM 5.6 APAR: PH39651 must also be applied.  After applying the PTF for APAR PH39651, all CICSPlex SM CMAS and MAS regions, including WUI server regions, should be restarted to activate the change. The restarts do not need to occur at the same time.
  7. To ensure toleration of CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 6.1, CICS Configuration Manager plug-in 5.4.0.11, CICS Deployment Assistant plug-in 5.3.0.9, CICS Interdependency Analyzer plug-in 5.5.0.8, CICS Performance Analyzer plug-in 5.4.0.10, or later, must be installed.
  8. From October 2022, the CICS Explorer for Aqua .zip file contains a version number like 32.0.1 or 33.0.1, see here for further details.
  9. For CICS Interdependency Analyzer plug-in, the host side APAR PH61639 (PTF UI98322, UI98323, UI98324) must already be applied to ensure toleration of CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 6.2.
  10. In order to use the "Group By" capability for TERMNL resources, both CICS Explorer APAR IJ53157 and CICSPlex SM APAR PH64449 must be applied.  Note that using "Group By" requires the WUI region to be running the CMCI JVM server. After applying the PTF which resolves PH64449, all CMAS and WUI regions should be restarted to apply the update. The restarts do not need to occur at the same time.
  11. To ensure toleration of CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 6.3, CICS Configuration Manager plug-in 5.4.0.17, CICS Interdependency Analyzer plug-in 6.1.0.3, CICS Performance Analyzer plug-in 5.4.0.16, or later, must be installed.  For the CICS Performance Analyzer plug-in, the host side APAR PH66944 (PTFs UO04808, UO04811, UO04809 and UO04810) must already be applied to ensure toleration of CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 6.3.

CICS Explorer 5.5.49 (34.0.8) and CICS Interdependency Analyzer 6.3.0.1 fix packs

CICS Explorer 5.5.49 (34.0.8) provides a fix for:

  • IJ57175
    • In relation to Security Discovery, additional validation checks have now been added to see if a Security Data Discovery file contains missing data. If any required section of the SDD file is empty, such as the transaction mapping, the user will be presented with a suitable error message indicating that there is data missing from the SDD file.
    • A new capability has been introduced which controls the visibility of all User Interface (UI) elements that relate to CICS Cloud, Platforms and Applications. By default, the CICS Cloud perspective is now hidden. Users who need to use CICS Cloud can turn the capability back on by going into Window > Preferences > General > Capabilities and enabling CICS Cloud.
    • IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty has been updated to 25.0.0.9.

CICS Interdependency Analyzer 6.3.0.1 provides a fix for:

  • IJ57269
    • The signing certificate has been updated for the CICS IA plug-in.

    • When connecting to a CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 6.3 system, new functionality such as OpenTelemetry and Global TDQ statistics is now available to customers.
  • IJ55590
    • Various Security Discovery updates and fixes have been made:
      • A new action 'create role for user' has been added.
      • The ability to delete permissions for 'unresolved' users or 'ungrouped' resources has now been enabled.
      • An issue with the column scroll bars in Customize View dialogs has now been fixed.
      • There was an issue with the context help not working as intended in several views. This has now been fixed.
    • Translations has been updated.
    • IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty has been updated to 25.0.0.6.
    • Java examples have been removed and customers are now presented with a link to a new CICSdev site.

CICS Configuration Manager 5.4.0.17 plug-in provides a fix for:

  • IJ55587
    • The CICS Configuration Manager plug-in has been updated to tolerate CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 6.3 by providing support for new fields that have been added.

CICS Performance Analyzer 5.4.0.16 plug-in provides a fix for:

  • IJ55191
    • New function has been added to tolerate CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 6.3 with various monitoring and statistics fields having been added, changed or removed.
Note that for the CICS Performance Analyzer plug-in, the host side APAR PH66944 (PTFs UO04808, UO04811, UO04809 and UO04810) must already be applied to ensure toleration of CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 6.3.

CICS Explorer 5.3.0.10 and CICS Transaction Gateway 3.0.0.3 plug-in fix packs


Available: 27 January 2017

CICS Explorer 5.3.0.10 provides fixes for:

  • IV92195
    • Icons within resources tables (for example, to indicate whether a resource had been installed from a bundle) have been reinstated.
    • An update has been made so that when searching for Tasks from a TCP/IP service, an error is no longer given.
    • In some instances an IllegalArgumentException could be thrown from the CICS Explorer model. This has been corrected
    • When installing a definition on Windows, in some situations (for example, where there were no system groups), only one region was shown as a possible install target. This has been corrected.
    • An update has been made so that when editing a filter for a view configuration, the user no longer gets a benign SWTException in some situations.

CICS Transaction Gateway 3.0.0.3 plug-in provides fixes for:

  • PI74695
    • An error no longer occurs when a user tries to connect the CICS Transaction Gateway plug-in to a Gateway daemon using the statistics port.
