Compatibility of z/OS Explorer, CICS Explorer, and CICS tools plug-ins

Question

How can I check which versions of IBM Explorer for z/OS (z/OS Explorer) and CICS tools plug-ins are compatible with different releases of CICS Explorer?  How do I know which Eclipse SDK version is required for my z/OS Explorer and CICS Explorer release?

Cause

Not all versions of z/OS Explorer and CICS tools plug-ins for CICS Explorer are compatible with every release of CICS Explorer.  Using wrong combinations can cause issues.

Answer

Use the following compatibility reference tables that helps to determine the correct combination of Explorer release and CICS tools plug-in release.

Key:

  • N denotes No, not supported at this release.
  • Y denotes Yes, supported by this release and further fix packs at this level.
  • v.r.m.f denotes version.release.modification-level.function-level. This refers to the release or fix pack that introduced support for this CICS Explorer release, and continued support by further fix packs at this level.  Note that from CICS Explorer 5.5.19, fix packs will be referred to as v.r.f (5.5.19) rather than v.r.m.f (5.5.0.19) to align with the way that the version is displayed within Eclipse.  

CICS Explorer is compatible with the operating environments described on the associated Detailed System Requirements for CICS Transaction Server web page. IBM Explorer for z/OS (z/OS Explorer)

Users of CICS Explorer for Aqua 3.4 should use z/OS Explorer 3.4, available from the Mainframe Developer Center.
Users of CICS Explorer for Aqua 3.3 should use z/OS Explorer 3.3, available from the Mainframe Developer Center.

If Installation Manager were used to install both z/OS Explorer and CICS Explorer then install the corresponding fix packs for CICS Explorer and z/OS Explorer at the same time. For more details, see the instructions in the associated APAR documentation.
