Summary

This document provides commonly used data collection instructions for IBM AIX, IBM i, Linux (Power), PowerHA, PowerVC, PowerVM (VIOS), Power Servers, Power HMC HW Platforms 7042 / 7063, and Power HMC Software (Physical appliance and vHMC).

Following the appropriate data collection instructions when opening a support case with IBM is strongly recommended to help your case be directed to the best support technician to assist with your situation, to help the support technician become familiar with your configuration more quickly, and to help get to a resolution more quickly.

Steps

SUSE OS:
- As root, run the command: supportconfig -l -S 14
- Once the command has completed an archive will be provided in the /var/log/ directory. The exact name will be reported after the command has completed.

For Redhat and Canonical OS:
- As root, run the command: sosreport
- Once the command has completed an archive will be provided in the /var/tmp/ directory on Redhat or the /tmp/ directory on Ubuntu. The exact name will be reported after the command has completed.
 


Step 2. Upload the collected data for your case to the appropriate type of IBM Data Server:
