Error description

The smp/e HFS which contains all the Websphere runtime jars is
usually mounted in R/O (read only) mode. This is the
recommendation. However, when it is mounted in R/W (read write)
mode the migration process causes the ownership of the files to
change. This should not happen. This apar will address this
concern.

The way migration had changed ownership on files was to use
the -fR chmod options.  In that case, the symbolic links would
be followed and would change the permissions on the SMP/E
files as well, if SMP/E was mounted in read/write mode.

Problem conclusion

Migration uses the chmod options -fhR, this will not allow the
symbolic link to be followed, therefore the SMP/E HFS file
ownership will not be changed, even if the SMP/E HFS file was
mounted in read/write mode.

APAR PK95774 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.9 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0.
