Editing formal modules

The topics in this section describe the options for editing data in formal modules.

Selecting an edit mode
There are three edit modes available in IBM® Engineering Requirements Management DOORS® (DOORS): exclusive, shareable, and read-only. Your edit mode defines the actions that you can perform in a module. Depending on the edit mode that a module is opened in, other users may be able to access and edit the module. You can select the edit mode when you open the module, or you can change the edit mode after you have opened the module.
Creating editable sections in modules
In IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS (DOORS), to allow several users to edit different sections of a module at the same time, divide the module into editable sections. Instead of opening the module in exclusive edit mode, which locks the whole module, a user can open the module in shareable edit mode and lock the section that they want to work on. Other users can open the module in shareable edit mode and lock other sections of the module.
Locking and unlocking editable sections
When you open a module in shareable edit mode, you need to lock a section before you can edit it.
Editing objects and attributes using the object properties sheet
Use the object properties sheet to edit attributes, or to change the value of an attribute for more than one object.
Editing in the module window
To edit in the module window, double-click the attribute that you want to edit, and then change its value. To change the value of an attribute for several objects or for all the objects in a module, use the object properties sheet. To edit the value of an attribute, you must have modify access to both the object and the attribute value.
Using forms to edit objects and attributes
You can create forms that include specified attributes that you want to edit. You can also include read-only attributes that contain reference information. You can save forms and open them from the module at any time.
Creating tables in modules
In a module, you can create a table that is below or at the same level as an object in IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS DOORS.
Inserting modules as tables
You can insert a whole module as a table in another module. Both modules must be in the same folder, and the module that is inserted must not contain any tables.
Inserting symbols
You can insert symbols, such as square root symbols, and Greek characters when you edit an object in the module window. You can only insert symbols into attributes of type Text or String.
Undoing edits
You can undo changes in IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS (DOORS) that you make to objects in modules.
Checking spelling
Use the spell checker to check spelling in text and string attributes in your module. You can check spelling in any of the language dictionaries that are available in IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS (DOORS).
