Editing in the module window

To edit in the module window, double-click the attribute that you want to edit, and then change its value. To change the value of an attribute for several objects or for all the objects in a module, use the object properties sheet. To edit the value of an attribute, you must have modify access to both the object and the attribute value.

  • To append text to the end of the text in the main column, select an object and start typing.
  • To edit the next object in the module, press Shift+Enter.
  • To edit the attribute in the next column, press Ctrl+A.
  • To accept the edits you made to the current object, press Ctrl+M, or click another object or attribute.
  • To discard the edits you made to the current object, press Ctrl+D.
  • To change the value of the current attribute to the default value for that attribute, click Edit > In-Place > Reset to Default. If the attribute does not have a default value, the current value is deleted.
  • To edit the Object Heading for the current object, press Ctrl+H.
  • To edit the Object Text for the current object, press Ctrl+T.

To format text, use the icons on the formatting toolbar. You can apply bold, italics, underline, strikethrough, superscript, and subscript. You can also apply bullets to lists, and increase or decrease the indentation of text in columns.

To cut, copy, and paste text, use the usual options in the Edit menu or the usual shortcuts (Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C, and Ctrl+V).

You can also copy text from other applications and paste it into IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS (DOORS) attributes. For example, you can copy text from a Microsoft Word document and paste it into a DOORS object.
Note: Rich text tables are not supported in DOORS. You can copy a rich text table into DOORS, for example from Word or Microsoft Excel, but this is not supported. The formatting of the rich text table will not be preserved if you copy it back to Word or Excel. Also, when you copy the Omega symbol from a FrameMaker document, it loses its font family, and is pasted into DOORS as the letter w.

Objects with unsaved changes have a red change bar unsaved change bar. To save changes, press Ctrl+S.
