Known Side Effects
- The directory structure of Java 17 is slightly different from that of Java 8 (for example, there is no longer a jre directory).
- Tools such as ikeyman and ikeycmd are no longer available, and keytool should be used instead.
The Impact documentation, which referred to the old Java 8 structure and command tools, has been updated. For associated topics, refer to the following page:

- The newly added View Links may fail to load properly, specifically when there are special characters in the key value
Remove/replace the special characters
- Impact Health Checker SSL Certificate check possible failure
Symptom:
Starting with Impact 7.1.0.32, the Health Checker is now performing a check of the SSL certificates to determine whether the certificates are expired.
The Health Checker logic is automatically executed when the Impact fix pack upgrade scripts update_*.bat|sh are used.
If the Health Checker fails due to the SSL Certificate checks, there could be a need to bypass the SSL certificate check.
Resolution:
Before the fix pack upgrade scripts update_*.bat|sh are run/re-run, set the following system environment variable:
impactbypasscertcheck=true
NOTE:
On Windows environments, make sure that after setting the environment variable, a new command window is open and confirming the "echo %impactbypasscertcheck%" command returns the value "true" before re-attempting to re-run the upgrade from that command window. On Unix environments, issue the following command, to confirm the property is set: echo $impactbypasscertcheck
Remove the environment variable "impactbypasscertcheck" after the upgrade has been completed! - NOI Inference Service can exceed its memory limit resulting in a pod restart
Symptom
When running under a heavy event load the Inference Service can exceed its memory limit resulting in a pod restart
Resolution
Scale the Inference Service to include 3 or more replicas. This will ensure that service is not impacted while one pod restarts
- Unable to run Event Analytics (EA) configSymptom
Event Analytics displays a "PKIX path building failed" exception error when opening the on-prem Event Analytics Configuration page, indicating a valid
certification path to the requested target could not be found.
"PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target."
Resolution
Export the Impact UI Certificates and import it into the back-end Impact server's trust store. For more information:
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/tivoli-netcoolimpact/7.1?topic=manually-exchanging-certificates-between-impact-servers WebSphere Liberty 24.0.0.6 and interim fix PH58796
Symptom
If applying WLP interim fix PH58796, SSL connections between the Impact UI and the Impact server backend may fail if the Subject Alternative Name (SAN) entries are not properly defined in the SSL certificates.
Resolution
The WLP interim fix now enforces Host name verification on the SSL certs. The certificates for the front-end and back-end need to be re-issued and need to include the appropriate Subject Alternative Name (SAN) and exchanged between servers.
