IBM i 7.4 Recommended Fixes for Print

Content

Recommendations:
These recommendations are based on your system already having installed the most current Cumulative PTF Package, HIPER PTF Group, and Database PTF Group. For further information or to order these PTFs, follow this link:

The IBM i Global Support Center recommends installing the individual fixes listed for corrective service and preventative maintenance. If an issue persists after the recommended fixes have been installed, the IBM i Global Support Center can more efficiently diagnose the problem and extra fixes might be recommended.


The following PTFs are recommended print related fixes that address issues in the following areas:

  • TCP/IP LAN -  PJL, SNMP, IPP, LPR print drivers and Remote Output Queues (LPR/LPD)
  • Print/Spool - General printing and spooling fixes.
  • Host Print Transform (HPT) - General HPT fixes
  • PDF Transform Services - Transform Services, product 5770TS1 and related fixes
  • AFP/PSF -Advanced Function Printing and IPDS printing, which uses Print Services Facility/400 (PSF/400)

Important Information

  • When experiencing issues with network-related printing, it is recommended that the latest TCP/IP Group PTF, SF99667 be applied.
  • When experiencing issues with IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS) printer sessions, it is recommended that the latest version of ACS be installed, the latest version of Java installed on the PC. Use the following document to get the latest version of ACS:

    Currently, there are no PTFs on the recommended fixes for Telnet list as listed in IBM i Support: Recommended fixes. Ensure the system is current on the cumulative and HIPER group.


Installation / Upgrade Considerations
The recommended fixes in this list can typically be applied or removed "Delayed" with no special considerations. However, many of the fixes require that all of the PSF writers, printer writers and remote writers be ended, or that the QSPL subsystem be ended, when applied or removed "Immediate" (without an IPL).

However, it is recommended that you review the cover letter for each PTF to confirm whether each PTF can be applied or removed "Immediate" and to determine whether there are any special instructions.
