Content

The following is a list of known issues when using ClearCase with UAC on Windows.

  • Technote 1417971 cleartool man command fails silently in Windows 7 if UAC is enabled

  • Technote 1428554 Modifying Multisite control panel applet reports error: An error occurred in clearcase subsystem while trying to save your data: 1001

  • Technote 1315271 Attempt to delete an element in ClearCase Explorer results in error Destination Folder Access Denied when UAC is enabled

  • Technote 1314336 Error reported when modifying ClearCase install on Windows Vista host: Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2 must be present to install this product

  • Technote 1453961 Closing ClearCase Control Panel when UAC is enabled reports error: Error Detected From ClearCase Subsystem

  • Refer to technote 1404683 ClearCase support for Microsoft Windows 7 Operating system for information about UAC issues with Windows 7.

  • On Microsoft Windows 7 ClearCase Control Panel operations which modify the configuration will fail with an error that administrative privilege is required.

There are two ways to work around this issue:
    • In some cases, a Program Compatibility Assistant pop-up window may appear, with one of the possible actions offered being "Open the control panel using recommended settings". Selecting this option should allow the operation to continue. There may also be another pop-up asking for confirmation that you want to continue.
    • Launch the ClearCase Control Panel from a command prompt window which was started using the "run as administrator" option. In this command prompt window, type cc.cpl to launch the Control Panel applet.

  • UAC may also impact performance on Microsoft Windows Server 2008. Testing results found Windows Server 2008 to be 2 to 5 times slower than Windows Server 2003 when running ClearCase commands.

    For instance:
    • mklabel and findmerge were 5 times slower
    • checkout and clearfsimport were 3 times slower
    • checkin and merge were 2 times slower
