Creating the Software Instance Comparison report

To generate the Software Instance Comparison report, use the Maintenance Reports > Software Instance Comparison action that is provided for software instances.

1. To display a table where you can access this action, complete one of the following steps:
   1. Click Software Instances on the Software Management page.
   2. Select Software Instances from the Switch To menu provided on the Deployments page and the Products page.
   3. In the Software Instances view, invoke the View > Products, Features, and FMIDs action.
   4. In the Products view, invoke the View > Software Instances action.
   5. Create or re-display one of the following maintenance reports: Missing Critical Service, Missing FIXCAT SYSMODs, End of Service, or SYSMOD Search.
   6. Invoke the action to create, modify, or copy a deployment. As you navigate through the deployment checklist, several opportunities are provided for you to work with software instances. For example, when you navigate to the Select the software instance to deploy step and the Check for missing SYSMODs step, a list of software instances is displayed.
2. In the table, select the first software instance to include in the report. You can select only one software instance. z/OSMF will compare the first software instance you select to the software instance you select in Step 4, and will identify the SYSMODs that exist in the second software instance but not the first software instance.
3. From the Actions menu or context menu, select Maintenance Reports > Software Instance Comparison. The Select Software Instance to Compare window is displayed.
4. Select the second software instance to include in the report. You can select only one software instance.
5. Click OK to save your selection and display the Select the Zones to Compare page.
6. Specify which target zones in the software instances to compare. To do so, complete the following steps:
   1. In the table, select the target zone in the first software instance to be paired with a target zone in the second software instance. You can select one or more target zones.
   2. Select Select Zones from the Actions menu or context menu. The Select Zones window is displayed.
   3. Select the target zone in the second software instance to compare with the selected target zones. You can select one or more target zones.
   4. Click OK to save your changes.
   5. Repeat these steps until each desired target zone in the first software instance is paired with a target zone in the second software instance. Any target zone in the first software instance that is not paired with a target zone in the second software instance is omitted from the report.
7. Click OK to generate the report. z/OSMF might need to collect information from different systems. In which case, you might be prompted for additional information such as your login credentials for the system or the HTTP proxy information. If prompted, provide the requested information.
