The Software Management task
provides a Software Instance Comparison report, which you can use
to identify the functional and service differences between two software
instances.
This report can
be helpful when you are completing the
following actions:
- Debugging a problem with
your software. For example, if
you have two software instances that contain the same software and
one works correctly and the other contains errors, you can use this
report to determine if the software instance in error contains new
SYSMODs that might be causing the problem or if the software instance
that works correctly contains a fix that resolved the problem.
- Verifying
that your software is at the same service level. For
example, if you have two software instances that contain different
copies of the same software and you want to ensure that both copies
of the software are at the same service level, you can use this report
to identify the SYSMODs that need to be installed in the software
instances to make them functionally equivalent.
- Planning
for a deployment. For example, if you plan to
deploy a software instance, you can use this report to compare the
software instance to be deployed with its prior-level software instance
by selecting the prior-level instance first and the software instance
to be deployed second. Doing so will help you identify SYSMODs that
will be regressed when your installation migrates to the software
instance to be deployed.
This section describes the
Software Instance Comparison
report and explains how to create the report.
