2025

Evolve the hybrid cloud for generative AI.

We will support generative AI workloads on heterogeneous hardware in the hybrid cloud. Hybrid cloud tools will enable cost, efficiency, sustainability, regulatory compliance, and policy-based management.

Why this matters for our clients and the world

Hardware optionality, the ability to deploy where needed, and full stack optimization will improve ROI on generative AI. A holistic, no-effort visibility and control will reduce the risk associated with adoption of generative AI.

The technologies and innovations that will make this possible

Consistent security models and tools embedded in IBM’s as-a-Service portfolio will be used to execute workloads in the multi-cloud with consistent security. We will use open-source AI device abstractions and tailor orchestration for AI with multi-tenancy support. AI technologies will accelerate the integration of cloud services and improve the productivity of cloud ops.

How these advancements will be delivered to IBM clients and partners

An open, easy-to-use generative AI stack supporting hardware optionality will be delivered on prem. A security platform will be embedded into IBM software/platform. Red Hat tool chains and the Developer Hub will be enhanced with the automated collection of application lineage. Every part of infrastructure (storage, Power, z) will have accelerator capabilities to help create and optimize AI deployment.
