APAR PH36741/PTF UI76015

IMS Tools product or component IMS Administration Tool 1.1
Name Enhancements for IMS directory support
Description Before this enhancement, the DBD/PSB compare function could only compare DBD and PSB resources that are stored in one IMS directory (between active data sets and staging data set). This enhancement enables the DBD/PSB compare function to compare DBD and PSB resources that are stored in two IMS directories (one of the IMS directories to compare does not have to be defined to IMS). The function can also compare the IMS directory against a backup of the IMS directory. The PTF for the following APAR is required to use the new function:

This APAR also supports a new feature, IMS directory/BSDS backup and restore. You can use the backup function to back up the data sets of the IMS directory, and the restore function to restore the data sets of the IMS directory from a backup.

These enhancements are available only for the ISPF interface.

APAR PH19835/PTF UI67194

IMS Tools product or component IMS Administration Tool 1.1
Name Enhancements to the IMS SPUFI function (APAR PH19835 for ISPF interface and APAR PH19836 for web interface)
Description This APAR enhances the IMS SPUFI (ISPUFI) function of IMS Administration Tool ISPF interface to support processing of SQL statements with a Java application.

ISPUFI is a feature to query and update IMS data by SQL statements. This feature allows you to directly interact with an IMS system by developing and running interactive SQL statements and reviewing the resulting output. You can issue SQL statements SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE to view, insert, update, and delete data in IMS databases.

SQL statements are executed in a COBOL application (IMS BMP application) or Java application (IMS JBP application). To execute SQL statements in a Java application, you must apply the PTF for this APAR and set up a Java environment. For more information, see the IMS Administration Tool 1.1 User's Guide and Reference.

Enhancements to ISPUFI for the IMS Administration Tool web interface are provided by APAR PH19836. Both ISPF and web interface APARs should be installed at the same time.

Also, IMS Tools Setup of IMS Tools Base has been enhanced by APAR PH19926 to support generating customized JCL members for setting up the Java environment for IMS SPUFI JBP.

APAR PH15100/PTF UI65519

IMS Tools product or component IMS Administration Tool 1.1
Name Enhancements to the IMS resource change function and the import objects function
Description
This APAR enhances the following functions of IMS Administration Tool:
  • Database (DBD) and application (PSB) administration
    • DBD resource change
    • PSB resource change
    • IMS resource change
  • Catalog and ACBLIB management
    • Import objects

These functions allow you to update DBDs and PSBs and import metadata from COBOL or PL/I copybooks. Then the functions call DBDGEN, PSBGEN, ACBGEN, and IMS Catalog Populate (DFS3PU00) utilities to populate updated DBDs and PSBs to the IMS catalog.

Details of the enhancements made by this APAR are:
  • Support a new format for copybook cross reference (XREF) files
  • Support multiple copybook XREF data sets
  • Save DBD macro source after metadata is imported from copybooks
  • Improved performance for the IMS catalog populate process
  • Continue DBDGEN and PSBGEN even when some resources encounter errors in the DBDGEN/PSBGEN process

To enable these enhancements in the web interface that is available through IBM® Management Console for IMS and Db2® for z/OS®, you must also apply APAR PH15154.

Status Available, 28 September 2019
Enablement Apply this maintenance.

APAR PH15154 is also required to enable the enhancements in the web interface of IMS Administration Tool.

APAR PH11257/PTF UI63964

IMS Tools product or component IMS Administration Tool 1.1
Name Support concatenating multiple IMS Administration Tool load libraries
Description

Before this APAR is applied, only a single IMS Administration Tool load library data set was supported when IMS Administration Tool runs in the IMS Tools Base Distributed Access Infrastructure (DAI) Tools Access Server (TAS) and Subordinate TAS (SOT) address space. This is because only one load library can be defined to the SATYLOAD DD statement during the product registration to the IMS Tools Base IMS Tools Knowledge Base repository. Due to this limitation, users had to store customized modules, such as ATY#OPTS and ATYSTFWD, in the same data set where the IMS Administration Tool product load modules reside.

This APAR enhances IMS Administration Tool to support a separate user customized load module library and have it concatenated at runtime.

This APAR changes z/OS back-end modules that run in the IMS Tools Base DAI SOT address space and behind the ISPF user interface. Users who use the web interface must apply APAR PH11245 in addition to this APAR.

Complete the following steps to store customized modules in a separate data set and have it concatenated at runtime:
  1. Store the customized modules in a data set (customized load library) that is different from the product load library.
  2. Register the customized load library to the IMS Tools Knowledge Base repository by specifying the library to DDNAME variable SYSLOAD with SCOPE=SYSTEM.

The product load library must continue to be defined to DDNAME variable SATYLOAD.

When IMS Administration Tool runs in the IMS Tools Base DAI SOT address space, the SYSLOAD data set is read before the SATYLOAD data set.

  3. Update the IMS control region and OM region JCL procedures by adding the SYSLOAD library to the STEPLIB concatenation and restart the IMS system.

After this APAR is applied, users can still use single load library, SATYLOAD. If users already have customized the SATYLOAD load library and do not wish to separate customized modules into a different data set, they do not need to take any action.

This APAR changes the following SATYSAMP sample JCL members to refer to the SYSLOAD data set: ATY$TSTA, ATY$TSTP, ATYASMOP, ATYASMSF, ATYBATCH, ATYBATRX, ATYBMP, ATYBMPR, ATYDLI.

If you have already customized sample JCL members, you must change them again after applying this APAR.

This APAR must be applied together with the following APARs:
  • Apply APAR PH11245 to IMS Administration Tool web interface.
  • Apply APAR PH11976 to IMS Tools Base to customize SYSLOAD with IMS Tools Setup.
