Model 285, 515, 520, 525, 550, and 720control-panel signal cables

You might need to replace the control-panel signal cable from the server. Use the procedure in this section to perform this task.

If your system is managed by the Hardware Management Console (HMC), use the HMC to complete the steps for replacing a control-panel signal cable. Refer to Replace a part using the Hardware Management Console.

To replace the control-panel signal cable, complete the following procedure:

  1. Perform the prerequisite tasks described in Before you begin.
  2. Remove the control panel with power off. Refer to Remove the control panel with power off.
  3. Remove the media-device enclosure. Refer to Remove the media-device enclosure from models 520, 550, and OpenPower® 720.
  4. Disconnect the control-panel signal cable from the media-device enclosure. If you are servicing a stand-alone system unit, note how the control-panel signal cable is routed through the system chassis.
  5. Pull the control-panel signal cable out of the system.
  6. Place the replacement control-panel signal cable into the system. If you are servicing a stand-alone system unit, note how the control-panel signal cable is routed through the system chassis.
  7. Connect the control-panel signal cable to the media-device enclosure.
  8. Replace the media-device enclosure. Refer to Replace the media-device enclosure in models 520, 550, and OpenPower 720.
  9. Replace the control panel with power off. Refer to Replace the control panel with power off.
