Remove the control panel with power off

You might need to remove the control panel on the server with the power off. Use the procedure in this section to perform this task.

These procedures describe the removal of the control panel with power off for the server models listed in Model 285,515,520,525,550, and 720 control panels.

If your system is managed by the Hardware Management Console (HMC), use the HMC to complete the steps for removing a control panel. For instructions, see Remove a part using the Hardware Management Console.

To remove the control panel with the power off, complete the following procedure:

  1. Perform the prerequisite tasks described in Before you begin.
  2. Stop the system. Refer to Stop the system or logical partition.
  3. Disconnect the power source from the system by unplugging the system.
Note: This system might be equipped with a second power supply. Before continuing with this procedure, ensure that the power source to the system has been completely disconnected.
  4. Remove the front cover from your system. Refer to Remove the front cover from the model 520, 550, or OpenPower 720, or the 0595 expansion unit.

  7. Replace the control panel with power off. Refer to Replace the control panel with power off.
