Replace the media-device enclosure in models 285, 52x, 55x, and 720

Learn how to replace a media-device enclosure after you have completed a service action. Use the procedure in this section to complete this task.

The following procedure describes the replacement of the media-device enclosure in the rack-mounted and stand-alone system units.

To replace the media-device enclosure, do the following:

  1. If you have not previously removed the media-device enclosure, do so now.
  2. If you are servicing a stand-alone system unit, plug the control panel cable into the media-device enclosure as you replace the media-device enclosure in the system chassis.
  3. Align the media-device enclosure with the chassis opening.
  4. Reconnect any cables that were connected to the media-device enclosure when it was removed.
  5. Press and hold the media-device enclosure latches A, then push the enclosure B into place until you feel the latches lock as shown in the following figure.

  7. Install the front cover on the model 285, 52x, 55x, OpenPower 720, or the 0595 expansion unit.
  8. Place the rack-mounted system or expansion unit in the operating position.
  9. Start the system or logical partition.
  10. If you replaced the media-device enclosure as part of another procedure, return to that procedure now. If you replaced the enclosure because of a system failure, verify that the new resource is functional. See Verify the installed part.
