Orchestrate What’s Next with AI Agents Hackathon
Turn your agent ideas into the next big thing! Join us for this virtual hackathon, where you will design and build a proof-of-concept agentic AI solution using IBM watsonx Orchestrate, a low-code platform to build and deploy AI agents.
You’ll address one of two possible themes:
- Agent mode activated challenge: Create a proof-of-concept that helps people research, collaborate, ideate, or innovate faster. Show the world how orchestrated AI agents can reduce barriers, spark new ideas, and turn concepts into impactful solutions.
- Industry, innovation, and infrastructure challenge, brought to you by Call for Code: Reliable infrastructure, sustainable industrial practices, and technological advancement are needed to support economic development, create jobs, and improve human well-being for all. Build a proof-of-concept agentic AI solution to address an issue that falls under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9: Industry, innovation, and infrastructure.

Network with peers and form a team of up to 5 people. Find your teammates on the hackathon web site after you have registered.
Start brainstorming
You team can start ideating on how IBM’s cutting-edge AI and cloud technologies can solve this challenge—full technical documentation, API access, and AI model details will be available when the hackathon officially begins.

2024 IBM TechXchange Pre-Conference watsonx Hackathon
This student team from PES University in India built an IBM watsonx.ai and Granite-powered app to help restaurants automate and manage their data, boosting staff efficiency and saving significant time. Since winning, they are working on a deal to further develop their solution.
Team BrainStormX
Lean AI Solutions Hackathon
The team won first place in the “Make work less boring” category. Their Agentic AI platform uses IBM Granite models to provide teams with a more balanced and productive brainstorming process, where everyone can contribute and vote on ideas in real time.
Team DuniAfrika
Call for Code
This first place team in the Call for Code category of the “Lean AI Solutions Hackathon with IBM Granite Models” built a solution called “Linda.” It let’s construction and trade workers ask questions or upload photos of their workspace through WhatsApp to get instant safety coaching, powered by IBM Granite Instruct and IBM Granite Vision, to stay safe on the job.
