Error description

  • Abstract: gsk7cmd dn parsing errors

    Action:
Generating a self signed certificate to PKCS11 crypto
    hardware with gsk7cmd on z/Linux

    An example:

    gsk7cmd -cert -create -crypto /usr/lib/pkcs11/PKCS11_API.so64
-tokenlabel zlinux -pw 12345678 -size 1024 -dn
    "CN=mybiztest,O=Biz Health Company,OU=Technical
    Services,ST=Georgia,C=US" -label mybiztest2 -expire 7200

    results in message:

Health is not a valid option. Proper syntax is.....

Local fix

  • Edit bin/gsk7cmd and modify:

        exec ${IHS_SERVER_ROOT}/gsk7_64/bin/gsk7cmd_64 $*

    to

        exec ${IHS_SERVER_ROOT}/gsk7_64/bin/gsk7cmd_64 "$@"

This is a unique line for z/Linux from the 64-bit supplement CD.
The other calls to gsk7cmd_64 uses the proper shell syntax that
preserves the tokenization. You may also find other similar
references in the file which can be changed as well.

    ****************************************************************
IBM HTTP Server V7.0 provides wrappers around the GSKit command
line tools. In these wrapper scripts, the incorrect unix shell
construct is used to pass down arguments provided by the user
to the native utility. ($* is used before the fix, "$@" is the
proper syntax to preserve the tokenization)

Problem conclusion

  • The shell scripts bin/gsk7cmd and bin/gsk7capicmd were updated
    to pass arguments using "$@"

This fix is targetted for IBM HTTP Server Fix pack 7.0.0.11
    (not applicable to other releases)

Temporary fix

  • Modify the bin/gsk7cmd and bin/gsk7capicmd shell scripts and
replace $* with "$@", use Ikeyman, or use "Ikeycmd" provided
    by the JRE directly.
