18 Mar 2005 Updated 26 Oct 2006 Set up IBM® Cloudscape™, the IBM version of Apache Derby, as a mobile database using DB2® Everyplace as the synchronization engine for various back ends, such as DB2 UDB™ or Informix® Dynamic Server.
This article gives an overview and description of how to set up IBM Cloudscape, the IBM version of Apache Derby, as a mobile database using DB2 Everyplace as the synchronization engine for various back-end systems. IBM Cloudscape is a commercial release of the open source Apache Derby relational database. The IBM Cloudscape release includes the core Apache Derby engine as is and adds a few features of its own, such as the IBM DB2 Universal JDBC™ Driver. So the instructions seen here can be used with Apache Derby, too.
This article has been updated to reflect the fact that IBM Cloudscape can no longer be used as the backend database in this configuration.
Items discussed include:
- Installation of Cloudscape and DB2 Everyplace
- Configuration of Cloudscape and DB2 Everyplace
- Definitions and how to set up synchronizations
- Informix information
- Troubleshooting
- Code samples
