Resolving The Problem

- To begin troubleshooting, check the following top issues. If your issue is listed, select the link, otherwise proceed to step 2.
QLogic vendor ID 1014 displays instead of IBM on BIOS screen Use of the "native mode" option is not supported
The Qlogic 6-port FCSM is a 20 port switch. The External configuration is changeable. The default port type is GL for maximum auto-negotiation ability with other standard fibre channel port types. The external FCSM ports are each served by an SFP transceiver (not shipped with the switch). The ports auto-negotiate the transmission speed, either 1.062 or 2.124 Gigabits per second, to match the transmission speed of the connected storage device. The Fibre Channel module supports the maximum Fibre Channel frame size (2148 bytes) for Class 2 and 3 service. Each port has twelve buffer credits. This allows transmission distances up to 20 km at 1Gbps or 10 km at 2Gbps without loss of performance.
- Check the status LEDs. The Qlogic 6-port FCSM has LEDs to quickly identify the status of the module. At the top of the ports, there are 2 LEDs denoting the status of the module. Each port has 3 LEDs.
- The top (green) LED will light when a device has successfully logged in to the name server.
- The middle (green) LED will illuminate when there is transmit or receive activity on the port.
- The bottom (amber) LED will light if the port identifies a failure.
Note: The external ports are numbered 0, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19. The internal ports are numbered 1 to 14.
