The Rochester Support Center recommends installing the group and individual fixes listed below for corrective service and preventive maintenance. If a problem persists after the recommended fixes are installed, the Rochester Support Center can more efficiently diagnose the problem and additional fixes might be recommended.

Note: NetServer support for SMBv2 was added to V7R2 via PTF in July 2017. Minimum required PTFs were all included in the TL17290 Cumulative PTF package. These PTFs are:

NetServer PTFS: MF63692 , MF63693 , and MF63694 (for those PTFs that are superseded, if the latest superseding PTF number is not included in a Cumulative PTF package, it is included on the list of NetServer PTFs above).

QNTC PTF: SI67968 (latest Superseded as of 09/24/2018) (if use of QNTC file system is required this PTF must be ordered in addition to those PTFs on the list of NetServer PTFs above).

For those SMB2 related PTFs that are superseded, the latest superseding PTF is highly recommended.

Note: The CHGUSRPRF (since 05/2012) command can no longer be used to reset, or re-enable, a user that is disabled for NetServer access as it was in the past on earlier OS versions (710 and below). Refer to APAR MA42015 for additional information. Individual users can be re-enabled by using the GO NETS menu, using IBM i Navigator, or by writing a program that makes use of the QZLSCHSI API. All profiles are re-enabled for IBM i NetServer use when NetServer is restarted from the Navigator for i screen or by running the STRTCPSVR *NETSVR command. All profiles are also re-enabled for NetServer use when the IBM i system is IPLed.

IBM Technote N1010992, CL Program and Command to Re-enable NetServer Users contains a sample as-is CL program that uses the QZLSCHSI API to re-enable NetServer users and a sample command that can be used to run the program.

IBM Technote N1010645, Automatically Re-Enable a Disabled IBM i NetServer User Profile contains a sample as-is CL program that uses the QZLSCHSI API to re-enable NetServer users and a sample WATCH program that can be used to run the re-enablement program automatically whenever a CPIB682 "User Profile disabled" message is received on the IBM i.
