Prerequisites include:

You must install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) before you install DOORS and DOORS Web Access.

The DOORS 9.7.1 client for Windows uses the JRE version 8 for document generation with Engineering Publishing and for the help system. You must install a 64-bit version of Java 8, which can be obtained from IBM. After installing, verify that your system has a JAVA_HOME environment variable that is set to the JRE install path; for example: C:\Program Files\IBM\Java8\jre.

To install DOORS Web Access 9.7.1, you must first install the 64-bit version of Java 8, which can be obtained from IBM.

To obtain the latest JRE fixes from Fix Central, use link.

Review the Version compatibility for DOORS Web Access, interoperation server, DOORS database server and client document prior to installation to ensure the client and server compatibility requirements are met in your environment.

Impact Assessment
Impact Description

This is a maintenance release. It contains fixes for customer-reported and internally found defects.

Test Results

Regression: An error in the Maintenance Delivery Vehicle (MDV) that produces incorrect or unexpected behavior causing a supported feature to stop functioning as designed.
This includes:

  • Coding errors that cause a regression
  • Documentation or packaging problems that cause a regression
  • Errors reported in a new function delivered in a MDV that cause a regression

Incomplete: An error in the MDV has not regressed, but does not work as designed.
This includes:

  • Fixed APARs which did not solve the original problem but did not break anything new
  • APARs reporting documentation errors, such as readme errors, that cause problems applying an MDV but do not lead to a regression

  • Regression and incomplete APARs are considered fix-in-error or MDV-in-error
  • Definitions above apply only to valid APARs that result in product fixes (APARs returned as working-as-designed are not assessed for being fix-in-error)
  • Issues in major releases due to new functionality do not apply in this definition

There are no known regressions to report.

If you are configuring local help, do not extract the IBM Knowledge Center to the DOORS installation directory. Use another directory, such as C:\kcci. Deployment of the Knowledge Center to the product installation path might make it difficult to completely uninstall the product in the future.

Change History

What's new
This release includes the following enhancements:
  • When an administrator or database manager sends a broadcast message, the DOORS users who receive the message can now respond to the sender of that broadcast message.
  • You can choose to filter the OLEs in the objects. Object contains OLE and the Object does not contain OLE options are the new options that are added to the Object tab.
  • You can switch from a physical network to a wireless network, and again back to the physical network without getting disconnected. The seamless network switching is possible irrespective of whether you are connected to a VPN network or not.
  • For DOORS 9.7.1, use Engineering Document Generation (EDG) 7.0.0 version for report generation. EDG was formerly known as IBM Rational Reporting for Document Generation (RRDG).
  • The user who creates a discussion will now receive an email notification when another user adds a comment to the discussion. If the user who adds a comment to the discussion doesn’t have access to the record of the user who created the discussion, the email notification will not be sent.
  • In JRS, a range is added to OSLC link types in resource shapes.
  • For DOORS 9.7.1, use IBM Common Licensing version. IBM Common Licensing was formerly known as Rational Common Licensing.
  • When you use the Export to Excel function, the object numbers are also now exported to the Excel file.

To save time, know the answers to these questions:

  • What software versions were you running when the problem occurred?
  • Do you have logs, traces, or messages that are related to the problem?
  • Can you reproduce the problem? If so, what steps do you take to reproduce it?
  • Is there a workaround for the problem? If so, be prepared to describe the workaround.

If you have helpful information to diagnose or identify the problem on your system, you can provide this data by following the instructions to exchange information with IBM Support.
