IBM Rational DOORS database server restart fails after upgrading to 9.6.1.6 or later

Troubleshooting


Problem

After upgrading a Windows installation of the IBM Rational DOORS database server from a version that is earlier than 9.6.1.6 to version 9.6.1.6 or later, the database server fails to restart.

Symptom

If you upgrade without first uninstalling the previous version, the following error is displayed when attempting to restart the database server after the upgrade:


Error 1920.Service DOORS DB Server 9.6 (DOORS DB <br>

Server 9.6) failed to start. Verify that you have <br>

sufficient privileges to start system services.

Environment

Existing installation:

  • Rational DOORS database server version earlier than 9.6.1.6 on a supported Windows server

Upgrade to:
  • Rational DOORS database server version 9.6.1.6 or later

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the problem, uninstall the older version of the Rational DOORS database server. Then, reinstall the new version of the database server.
