Take your network maps offline

Technical Blog Post

Abstract

Take your network maps offline

Body

In Network Manager 4.2 Fix Pack 2, we introduced a way to show your network devices overlaid onto a real geographical map, in the correct locations (see How to map your network by geography).

But what if using a maps service from the internet isn't an option? For example, if there's extra security that means that your servers cannot communicate with the internet, or there are restrictive firewall rules.

Well now you can do it, using an offline maps provider. Network Manager Fix Pack 3 introduces support for any Web Map Service that supports the WMS standard. Some Web Map Services can work without internet access.

For more information about WMS integration, see Integrating an online or offline Web Map Service.

Fix Pack 3 introduced a number of other features - to see them all, go to the Release Notes.
