Following is the list of products and options that need to be installed in order to use all functions in IBM Navigator for i.

It is recommended that you keep current on the Group PTFs listed on the IBM Navigator for i PTFs page.

Java™ - JDK

 

 

 

New version IBM Navigator for i running on ADMIN1 will run on the highest Java version installed. 
Navigator on IBM i 7.6 requires Java 17 64 bit (option 20).

  • 64-bit Java™ 17 - 5770JV1 option 20 - required for IBM i 7.6
  • 64-bit Java™ 11 - 5770JV1 option 19
    • - not available on IBM i 7.6
  • 64-bit Java™ SE 8 - 5770JV1 option 17
    • IBM i 7.5, 7.4, & 7.3 - can use 5770JV1 option 17, 19, or 20
Java™ PTF latest group PTF
 
ADMIN2 & ADMIN4 will run only on 64-bit Java™ SE 8
  • ADMIN2 - LDAP, Tivoli GUI, heritage Navigator
  • ADMIN4 - Web Admin GUI - also requires the ADMIN servers to be running (not just admin4)

  • go licpgm > option 10 > F11 (check status of all options listed in link above)
    • Navigator > Software will show you the options installed.  If a system does not yet work for the GUI node, you can use a working Navigator and manage the system you are still working on configuring.
