IBM Maximo Application Suite Software Support Lifecycle Policy

General Page

IBM® Maximo® Application Suite, versions 8.0 through 8.6, have an IBM Standard Lifecycle Policy with a different lifecycle that applies to the stand-alone bundled product IBM Cloud Pak for Data.

For Maximo Application Suite 8.7 and later versions, see the updated Lifecycle Policy.

The software support lifecycle policy for IBM Maximo Application Suite is a unique combination of the IBM Standard Software Support Lifecycle Policy and the software support lifecycle policies of the bundled product IBM Cloud Pak for Data.

Overview

IBM Maximo Application Suite contains both a bundled product and software from open source projects. Because the bundled program, IBM Cloud Pak for Data, has its own support lifecycle policy, but the open source software (OSS) does not, this bundling makes the Maximo Application Suite Support Lifecycle Policy more complex than usual.

It is important to understand these cases:

  1. IBM Maximo Application Suite, versions 8.0 through 8.6, is a versioned product that follows the IBM Standard Software Support Lifecycle Policy
  2. Those components of IBM Maximo Application Suite that are not also bundled products (mainly the OSS) follow the same support lifecycle policy as IBM Maximo Application Suite.
  3. Some bundled products, such as IBM Cloud Pak for Data and IBM Watson Discovery, follow different support lifecycles to IBM Maximo Application Suite. IBM ensures that a suitable upgrade path is available for customers of IBM Maximo Application Suite such that bundled products can continue to comply with their respective support lifecycles.

For more information about the IBM Cloud Pak for Data components that are available to the licensee of IBM Maximo Application Suite for restricted use, see the License Information documents for Maximo Application Suite.

IBM Maximo Application Suite includes or bundles components derived from open source software and software from other IBM teams and Red Hat Inc.  Support for such components is available through your usual IBM Support channels, with defined response goals. If a defect is determined to be in any IBM or Red Hat product, your IBM Support representative works with the owning teams to resolve the defect and deliver a fix.  For open source software/third party support information, see the IBM Open Source and Third party software policy.

The numbering scheme for the version of IBM Maximo Application Suite is based on the semver semantic versioning specification defined at: http://semver.org/.
The version numbering takes the form major.minor.fix with:
  • MAJOR: Number changes indicate incompatible changes between releases
  • MINOR: Number changes indicate a new release
  • FIX: Number changes for fix updates
IBM Maximo Application Suite treats each major and minor version (as in major.minor.fix semantic versioning) as a new IBM Release with new support dates.  New fix versions are equivalent to a fix pack or update to the package and does not start a new set of support dates.

Support Schedule for IBM Maximo Application Suite
