This section lists APARs resolved in version 10.2.7. To view additional information about each APAR, click on the APAR description. Fixed an issue where the data gather script (wa_pull_info) failed when the Dynamic Workload Console was installed by a non-root user. Previously, the script incorrectly searched only the default root directory (/etc/TWA) for the instance properties file (twainstance*.TWA.properties). As a result, it failed to locate the properties file in the non-root user's home directory (/<home_directory>/.TWS/TWA). The wa_pull_info script has been updated to correctly search the non-root user's home directory for the properties file, allowing it to successfully collect diagnostic data for non-root installations Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where using the TIMESTAMP variable in an event rule action incorrectly triggered an "invalid date and time format" error. The system has been updated to correctly process and validate the TIMESTAMP variable, allowing users to successfully configure and run their event rules without encountering formatting errors. Fixed an issue where users could not restore a previous version of a job stream if it contained external job dependencies to another job stream. Previously, attempting to restore such a version caused the user interface to fail and return an error. The version restoration process has been updated to correctly process external job dependencies, allowing users to successfully restore previous versions of their job streams without errors. Fixed an issue in the Workload Designer where time dependencies set to midnight with a day offset (for example, 12:00 AM +n days) using the composer command-line program were displayed incorrectly. Previously, the user interface inaccurately represented these time dependencies as noon of the previous day (for example, 12:00 PM +(n-1) days). The Workload Designer has been updated to correctly process and display accurate time representations for all 12:00 AM time dependencies. Fixed an issue where the Delay for days field under the Time Restrictions section failed to accept its default value. Previously, users were required to manually change the value in this field before the settings could be successfully saved. The user interface has been updated to correctly recognize and process the default value, allowing users to save their time restrictions seamlessly without unnecessary manual adjustments. Fixed an issue in the Workload Designer where users could not enable the Use as time dependency option for an existing time restriction. Previously, enabling this option incorrectly required users to first modify another value before the system would recognize and save the change. The user interface has been updated to correctly process this selection, allowing users to enable the Use as time dependency option independently without needing to alter any other settings. Fixed an issue where attempting to install the Dynamic Workload Console failed if the password contained certain special characters (such as Fixed an issue where running the Dynamic Workload Console installation script (dwcinst.sh) failed with a return code of Fixed an issue in the Workload Designer where incorrect time ranges (for example, 09:00 to 09:01) were displayed for previous-day job dependencies. Previously, even if a time dependency was correctly defined using the composer command-line program, the user interface inaccurately represented the time range. The Workload Designer has been updated to correctly process and display accurate time ranges for all previous-day job dependencies. Fixed an issue in the Workload Designer where adding or modifying a file dependency path that contained spaces (for example, C:\Path With Spaces) incorrectly triggered a syntax requirement error. A file dependency occurs when a job or job stream is dependent on the existence of one or more files before it can begin running. Previously, paths with blank spaces caused validation failures in the designer. The Workload Designer has been updated to correctly process and validate file dependency paths containing spaces, ensuring that users can successfully save them when the path is properly enclosed in double quotation marks. Fixed an issue in the Workload Designer where attempting to edit a job stream failed if another duplicated job stream remained open and unsaved in the editor. Previously, performing this action caused the interface to fail and return an error. The Workload Designer has been updated to correctly manage these concurrent sessions, allowing users to successfully edit job streams without errors, regardless of other unsaved duplicates. Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where performing bulk actions, such as holding or canceling multiple jobs from the Monitor Workload page, incorrectly applied the action only to the first job in the selection. The user interface has been updated to ensure that bulk actions are correctly applied to all selected jobs simultaneously. Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where the system failed to distinguish between workstations sharing the same name but located in different folders. Previously, this caused jobs from all identically named workstations to be displayed together. The system has been updated to properly process folder qualifiers, ensuring that only jobs from the specifically selected workstation and folder combination are displayed. Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where releasing a predefined job stream that was submitted on hold failed. Previously, if a user submitted a predefined job stream with the Hold property enabled and later attempted to release it from the Monitor Workload page using the Release action, the system provided a confirmation message but the job stream incorrectly remained on hold. The system has been updated to correctly process the release action for predefined job streams, ensuring they are successfully released and executed without requiring manual priority adjustments. Fixed an issue in the Orchestration Monitor where workstation link times were incorrectly displayed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) regardless of the specific time zone defined for the workstation. The user interface has been updated to correctly process and display workstation link times according to each workstation's configured time zone. Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where reports named using Korean characters failed to save or execute correctly. The system has been updated to properly process and retain Korean characters in report names, allowing users to successfully save and run these reports without errors. Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where the system failed to correctly update and display a job's status when it transitioned to a suppressed ( Fixed an issue in the Workload Designer where users were unable to resize columns in a single action. Previously, adjusting column widths required repeated dragging to achieve even minimal changes. The user interface has been updated to allow users to smoothly resize columns to their desired width in a single, continuous movement. Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where attempting to restore a previously saved version of a job stream failed. Previously, if a user modified the name of a job stream and then tried to restore it to an earlier version, the action failed and the system returned an error. The version restoration process has been updated to correctly handle modified job stream names, allowing users to successfully restore previous versions without errors. Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where the system displayed an inaccurate number of job rerun instances. Previously, when viewing jobs after multiple manual and automatic reruns, some intermediate rerun instances were missing from the display, and their job numbers were incorrectly replaced by subsequent runs. The user interface has been updated to accurately process and display all job rerun instances, regardless of their status or whether a confirm operation has been executed. The following defects have been resolved: Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where users could not view or create any type of job definition. Previously, when a user attempted to create a new job definition, the interface failed to display any available job types, resulting in an empty panel. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process and load all supported job types, allowing users to successfully view the options and create new job definitions without encountering an empty panel. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where the job properties panel failed to load after a job stream was deployed. Previously, when a user added a job to a job stream and successfully deployed the workflow, selecting the job afterward caused its properties to remain stuck in a continuous loading state. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process and display job properties after deployment, allowing users to successfully view and manage their jobs without the interface becoming unresponsive. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where attempting to add a prompt dependency resulted in no response from the user interface. Previously, clicking to add the dependency caused the system to fail to respond, preventing the user from completing the action. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process the selection, allowing users to successfully add prompt dependencies to their job streams without encountering an unresponsive interface. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where a slash ( Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where a slash ( Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where attempting to generate a report using a PostgreSQL database failed. Previously, running reports (such as Job Run Statistics) caused the system to unexpectedly lose its authentication context, resulting in a JSON Web Token error ( Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where users could not create Native UNIX or Windows job definitions. Previously, the UNIX and Windows job types were incorrectly missing from the Native section when attempting to create a new job definition. Additionally, if an existing Unix job was created from the Workload Designer, it was displayed in the Graphical Designer with all actions disabled. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly display and process Native UNIX and Windows job types, allowing users to successfully create, view, and manage these job definitions without restrictions. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where the domain name field did not automatically convert lowercase text to uppercase. Previously, when a user created a new domain object and entered a name using lowercase letters, the system failed to apply the default uppercase conversion, although it displayed correctly in edit mode. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process the input, ensuring that domain names are automatically converted to uppercase when they are added. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where the prompt name field did not automatically convert lowercase text to uppercase. Previously, when a user created a new prompt object and entered a name using lowercase letters, the system failed to apply the default uppercase conversion, although it displayed correctly in edit mode. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process the input, ensuring that prompt names are automatically converted to uppercase when they are added. Fixed an issue in the Orchestration Monitor where the OQL button was incorrectly disabled. Previously, when users attempted to submit a job stream, the OQL (Orchestration Query Language) button failed to enable and could not be triggered to verify the data. The user interface has been updated to correctly enable and process the OQL button, allowing users to successfully trigger it and verify data during job stream submissions. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where adding a prompt dependency located in a specific folder caused the folder name to be duplicated after the job stream was deployed. Previously, this duplicated folder path in the prompt dependency prevented successful merge operations and caused them to fail. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process and display folder paths for prompt dependencies, ensuring that paths are not duplicated and merge operations can complete successfully. Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where attempting to test an engine connection failed. Previously, performing this action incorrectly triggered an internal formatting error due to a data processing incompatibility ( Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where attempting to deploy a job stream after adding a resource dependency failed. Previously, performing this action caused the interface to fail and return an internal error. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process resource dependencies, allowing users to successfully add them and deploy their job streams without encountering errors. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where attempting to edit an existing run cycle configured with a calendar rule incorrectly displayed an error. Previously, after a user deployed a job stream containing a run cycle with a calendar rule, reopening the run cycle in edit mode caused the rule section to fail and display an error. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process and display calendar rules in edit mode, allowing users to successfully modify their run cycles without encountering errors. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where modifying a deployed job stream that contained an embedded job caused subsequent deployments to fail. Previously, updating properties of the parent job stream, such as changing its name or folder, incorrectly reset the embedded job, resulting in the loss of its defined job type and task details. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process and retain embedded job configurations when a parent job stream is modified, allowing users to successfully update and deploy their workflows without data loss or errors. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where attempting to deploy a job stream after adding a resource dependency failed. Previously, performing this action caused the interface to fail and return an internal error. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process resource dependencies, allowing users to successfully add them and deploy their job streams without encountering errors. Fixed an issue in the Orchestration Monitor where external dependencies were displayed with incorrect status conditions and missing job stream names. Previously, when viewing a job stream with external conditional dependencies (for example, an Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where the interface failed to launch when deployed using Docker images configured with a Db2 or PostgreSQL database. Previously, after starting the containerized environment, attempting to access the console's login page resulted in a failure to load. The system has been updated to correctly initialize the console within Docker environments, allowing users to successfully launch and access the interface when using Db2 or PostgreSQL databases. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer of the Dynamic Workload Console where a slash ( Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where installing the component with a PostgreSQL database and FIPS enabled failed to complete the setup correctly. Previously, when users performed this installation, the instance property was not created, the console server ( Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where installing the component with a PostgreSQL database and FIPS enabled failed to complete the setup correctly. Previously, when users performed this installation, the instance property was not created, the Dynamic Workload Console server ( Fixed an issue where the database configuration script ( Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where jobs incorrectly appeared outside the borders of the job stream they belonged to. Previously, when a user opened a new workspace and added an existing job stream (such as the FINAL or FINALPOSTREPORTS job streams) from the asset list, the graphical representation of the jobs rendered outside the job stream container. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process the graphical view, ensuring that all jobs are properly displayed within the borders of their respective job streams. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where the name field for objects incorrectly displayed text only in uppercase. Previously, when a user opened an object, such as a folder, and entered text using lowercase letters in the name field, the system automatically converted the input to uppercase by default. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process and retain the user's intended text casing, allowing users to successfully enter and display object names in lowercase or mixed case. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where users could not add a job definition to a job stream. Previously, when a user opened a workspace and attempted to insert a job definition from the Asset tab into a job stream, the job incorrectly remained outside the scope of the job stream container. The Graphical Designer has been updated to correctly process the placement, allowing users to successfully drag and drop job definitions directly into their job streams. Fixed an issue in the Orchestration Monitor where searching for a predecessor job or job stream resulted in an error. Previously, when a user navigated to the dependencies section of a job or job stream and attempted to search for a specific job or job stream to add as a predecessor, the system encountered an unexpected error and failed to complete the search. The Orchestration Monitor has been updated to correctly process the search function, allowing users to successfully find and add predecessor dependencies without encountering errors. Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where the server unexpectedly shut down during the running of an automation suite. Previously, after upgrading the component to a newer version, the server became unstable and went offline in the middle of automated runs, regardless of the specific module or test case being run. The system has been updated to ensure server stability during continuous automation processing, allowing users to successfully run their suites without encountering unexpected downtime. Fixed an issue in the Graphical Designer where users lacking the appropriate submit permissions could incorrectly submit job streams. Previously, due to an issue with how the system processed the REST call for the job stream definition, the interface allowed unauthorized users to bypass their role restrictions and submit workflows, even though the Workload Designer correctly prevented this action. The Graphical Designer has been updated to strictly enforce user role permissions, ensuring that only authorized users can successfully submit job streams. Fixed an issue in the Orchestration Monitor where the Next button incorrectly became disabled during job stream submission. Previously, when using the Submit Job Stream wizard, if a user changed the scheduling selection from "Specify date and time" or "Run Cycle" back to "Now", the Next button in the fourth step failed to re-enable, preventing the user from proceeding. The Orchestration Monitor interface has been updated to correctly process scheduling option changes and maintain the proper state of the Next button, allowing users to successfully complete the job stream submission without encountering navigation blockers. Fixed an issue in the Orchestration Monitor where folders in the tree view incorrectly rendered outside their designated container. Previously, when a user expanded the tree view for root or nested folders, the folder elements escaped the tree view table, causing the footer to be displaced and an abnormal scrollbar to appear on the right side of the screen. The Orchestration Monitor interface has been updated to correctly process the layout, ensuring that all folders remain inside their proper container and that the expand and collapse buttons are accurately positioned, preventing any visual distortion. Fixed an issue in the Workload Designer where searching for a job stream dependency caused the interface to become stuck in a continuous loading state. Previously, when a user navigated to the dependencies section to add a job stream, entered a Schedule Time in the search modal, and initiated the search, the system failed to return results and the page kept loading continuously. The Workload Designer has been updated to correctly process search queries that include a schedule time, allowing users to successfully view results and add job stream dependencies without the interface becoming unresponsive. Fixed an issue in the Orchestration Monitor where the search function failed to automatically update results. Previously, when a user selected an object, entered a filter in the search taskbar, and clicked search, the interface did not display the updated results unless the user manually clicked the refresh button. The Orchestration Monitor has been updated to correctly process search queries and automatically display the results, allowing users to successfully filter and view objects without needing manual refreshes. Fixed an issue in the Orchestration Monitor where the Search button failed to respond. Previously, when a user navigated to the Orchestration Monitor, entered a complex query string (such as searching for a specific job stream across multiple folders and workstations), and clicked the Search button, the system did not process the request and failed to initiate the search. The Orchestration Monitor has been updated to correctly process these search queries, allowing users to successfully filter results and view objects when clicking the Search button. Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where generating the History report failed and resulted in an unexpected system dump. Previously, when users attempted to run or access the History report, the process abnormally terminated. The reporting mechanism has been updated to correctly process the request, allowing users to successfully generate and view historical reports without encountering system crashes or dumps. Fixed an issue in the Orchestration Monitor where the actions panel failed to close automatically. Previously, when a user navigated to the Job Stream View, right-clicked a selected job on the canvas to open the actions panel, and then deselected the job, the panel incorrectly remained open and would only close if the user clicked outside the canvas. The interface has been updated to correctly process job deselection, ensuring that the actions panel closes automatically when a job is no longer active or selected. Fixed an issue in the Orchestration Monitor where deeply nested subfolders failed to load and display in the sidebar. Previously, when a user created an environment with many levels of nested folders and attempted to expand them in the Orchestration Monitor, the lower-level subfolders were not visible because the system failed to load them. The interface has been updated to correctly process and load deeply nested folder structures, allowing users to successfully expand and view all subfolders within the sidebar regardless of their depth. Fixed an issue in the Dynamic Workload Console where testing an engine connection with invalid credentials caused the interface to freeze. Previously, when a user navigated to the Manage Engines page to test a shared engine connection and entered an incorrect username and password, the system encountered an error but became stuck in a continuous "please wait" loading state. The Manage Engines interface has been updated to correctly process failed authentication attempts, ensuring that the loading state clears and users can easily correct their credentials without the interface becoming unresponsive. Fixed an issue in the Workload Designer where users could not create or modify job streams containing distributed shadow jobs when connected to a z/OS engine. Previously, when a user added a distributed shadow job to a new or existing job stream and attempted to save the workflow, the operation failed. The Workload Designer has been updated to correctly process these definitions, allowing users to successfully create, modify, and save job streams that include distributed shadow jobs. Other minor fixes Resolved an issue where the Resolve the variables at runtime flag was not visible on the Graphical Designer. The following CVEs have been resolved: In the tables in this section the following acronyms are used: Dynamic Workload Console compatibility is supported on each release version listed in the table: The following table shows which components are compatible with previous Dynamic Workload Console versions: Compatibility scenarios and limitations You are strongly recommended to maintain all IBM Workload Scheduler components at the latest version level as regular maintenance activity. Keeping your environment consistent also ensures you can implement the new features available with each release. The following are software limitations and workarounds that affect Dynamic Workload Console 10.2.7: Non-ASCII characters display issue In Dynamic Workload Console V10.2.7, non-ASCII characters display incorrectly in various sections of the Orchestration Monitor and Graphical Designer. Workaround To avoid the issue, install the fix for IJ58222. The fix is available from IBM Fix Central. When navigating the tree view in the Orchestration Monitor, nested folders may appear multiple times. This occurs when when the In Dynamic Workload Console V10.2.5, when the In the Graphical Designer, an issue occurs when creating a dependency from a new job or job stream to an object that already exists. During the deployment, only the new objects are saved, and an error message regarding the dependency appears. In the Orchestration Monitor, the Dependencies section incorrectly displays a duplicate card for successor objects. When viewing a job stream that contains a successor, the same successor card is displayed twice instead of once. In cloud environments, the Dynamic Workload Console authentication fails following a certificate rotation. This occurs because the system cannot find the new keys needed to verify user access tokens. This problem happens every time the certificates are updated. To resolve APAR IJ52941 in version 10.2.6, the prefilled value Workaround Since the Job stream field is no longer automatically populated, you must manually enter the value. After updating the Dynamic Workload Console to version 10.2.7, blank lines can appear between items in the Design menu, corresponding to the pages of the Workload Definitions section that were removed in V10.2.7 release. This issue occurs if custom roles created in a previous version reference menu items that are now removed. When monitoring a File Transfer job from the Dynamic Workload Console, the Workflow Details panel displays information about the transfer of individual files. If you use wildcards instead of a specific file name and the job step fails, you cannot restart the step. SAP and Shadow job definitions cannot be created nor edited from the Graphical Designer. Job logs containing Japanese characters might appear garbled when viewed in the Dynamic Workload Console or when using the command line on fault-tolerant agents running on Windows operating systems. On z/OS systems, an error occurs in the Federator-mirrored Orchestration Monitor when attempting to change the priority of a job stream. This issue is encountered after clicking the job stream name hyperlink and modifying the priority field. The system fails to save the change and displays an error message instead of updating the object. The generation of reports in the Dynamic Workload Console fails when the Dynamic Workload Console is installed on z/OS systems. Archived records that are stored by the Federator into the database used, if any, are not always auto deleted according to the cleanup policy set in the fed_variables.xml file. Old engines that are stored by the Federator into the database used, if any, are not deleted. After you have registered a z/OS engine to the Federator, it is added to the list of discovered engines, which are only usable in the Orchestration Monitor. To make all the other Dynamic Workload Console functions available to z/OS engines, you must define them manually on the Dynamic Workload Console. For a detailed list of available packages, see the 10.2.7 Quick Start Guide document available from IBM Fix Central. This section describes how to install and upgrade the Dynamic Workload Console to version 10.2.7. Before getting started, verify that the following requirements are met: WebSphere Application Server Liberty Base adopts a continuous delivery model where new versions are deployed on a monthly basis. During formal testing, IBM Workload Scheduler and the Dynamic Workload Console were tested by using WebSphere Application Server Liberty Base 26.0.0.3. For more information about which subsequent versions of WebSphere Application Server Liberty Base can be used in the future, see Recommended updates for WebSphere Application Server. Before performing an upgrade, check whether the ssl_config.xml file is present in the overrides folder. If the file is present, check the verifyHostname option in the twaSSLSettings section. The verifyHostname must be set to false, as shown in the following example: Versions equal to or higher than 24.0.0.8 See Possible IWS compatibility issues with Liberty 24.0.0.8 or higher Versions ranging from 24.0.0.3 to 24.0.0.8 Upgrade notes Review the following points before upgrading. MSSQL notes If you are using MSSQL and are upgrading from a release earlier than 10.2.3, perform the steps listed below after upgrading to version 10.2.7. If you are using MSSQL and are upgrading from release 10.2.3 or a release later than 10.2.3, you can ignore the steps listed below. Add the lines listed below after the db.driver.path parameter: Append the following strings at the end of the value of the mssql.URL parameter: Add the lines listed below after the integratedSecurity parameter: The resulting file looks as follows. The modified sections are highlighted in bold: Check the alias of your custom certificate before upgrading Before you upgrade the master domain manager or Dynamic Workload Console, verify the alias you use for your custom certificates. Failure to do so might cause the master domain manager and Dynamic Workload Console to fail at start time and return one of the following errors: On UNIX operating systems, you can run the following example command to verify the alias: 1. Browse to the following paths, depending on the component: master domain manager <TWA_DATA_DIR>/usr/servers/engineServer/resources/security Dynamic Workload Console <TWA_DATA_DIR>/usr/servers/dwcServer/resources/security 2. Run the following command: On Windows operating systems, you can run the following example command to verify the alias: 1. Browse to the following paths, depending on the component: master domain manager <TWA_home>\usr\servers\engineServer\resources\security Dynamic Workload Console <TWA_home>\usr\servers\dwcServer\resources\security 2. Run the following command: If a key with the alias server is present, no additional steps are required. The custom certificate with alias server is used by the master domain manager and Dynamic Workload Console. If your custom certificates use aliases other than server, you can encounter the following situations: On both master domain manager and Dynamic Workload Console, create a new file named serverkeyalias. xml in the overrides folder with the following content: On both master domain manager and Dynamic Workload Console, edit the Add the following entry: Change the following entry to read as follows (changes highlighted in bold): You can now proceed with the upgrade.
